We Had a Death in the Family This Morning

from The Renegade Writer's Mouthy Musings · host The Mouthy Renegade Writer

Man, I fucking hate death most of the time. It’s not easy losing a loved one. My children learned about this for the first time after their Dad’s father passed this morning. He had ALS, but it was pneumonia that took him today. They are grateful that he didn’t have to suffer through late-stage ALS.But it still hurt like hell. I can tell. And I know that feeling.I don’t have any of my four grandparents still around. Mai has lost hers as well. It comes with aging, and it doesn’t get any easier. I’m worried to death about our little dog, Mooch. She’s 14, and though she’s still pretty spry, we know that we don’t have a lot of years left with her.Ditto about my father, who’s in assisted living with health issues and dementia that’s getting worse.I talk about those things in today’s episode. Death is the one thing that messes with my mind. Especially on a day like today. I appreciate you giving this one a listen and letting me process my feelings on a rough morning. You guys mean the world to me. Thank you for all you bring to the table. This Mouthy Renegade Writer appreciates you more than you know.© 2026 The Mouthy Renegade Writer.
