It shows the role of God, the role of the individual, and the role of the community. It was the power of God that raised Lazarus from the grave. It was Lazarus himself who responded to the call of Jesus to come forth from the grave. However, before Jesus called, before God enlivened, before Lazarus responded, the community facilitated. The community moved the stone. What are the stones we need to move? What are the obstacles that block people from hearing the voice of God? What are the obstacles to block folk from responding? As William Booth said, “You cannot warm the hearts of people with God's love if they have an empty stomach and cold feet.”We all have a role to play. I’m Horace McMillon.
