This week's episode, in addition to tasty idea tapas and zany audio tidbits of course, is a solo endeavor to unpack an oft-overlooked and truly remarkable little pinecone shaped, grain of rice sized gland in the middle of our head: the pineal gland. The pineal gland produces melatonin, tryptamine, and several other intriguing chemical compounds including DMT, the most profound psychedelic known to man. Our pineal gland also contains calcite micro-crystals that conduct electromagnetic energy, and it is one of only two parts of the brain (the other being the pituitary gland) that does not have a right side and left side: with the pineal gland, it's all one baby. Throughout history, many cultures have correlated the pineal gland with the third eye of the mystical traditions, which opens our mind to extra-sensory perceptions and deep spiritual awareness. It is thus reasonable to assume that taking good care of our pineal glands increases our sensitivity to the immaterial and mysterious aspects of life. I have a hunch that staring at the sun and rise and set helps to decalcify our pineal glands. In any case, it feels amazing to soak up all those photons...
