‘We have lift-off’. How the Tudorama podcasters help in the publishing of a book

Send us Fan MailAfter their first podcast, Tudor and the new team of poddlers meet in the bar of the tennis club where Tudor and William have been playing a game of tennis, driven indoors by a sudden cold snap. They are joined by new team member Christine, a young graduate recruit in English literature, whose starting project has been to complete the last stage of submitting the book ‘Boris, me, and the BBC’ to the publisher.The delay has been partly because of time spent on producing the first Tudorama podcast. But partly because of Tudor’s concerns about the difficulty in bring to the book to a conclusion,  it is a falls between a factual document of news reporting on the unfolding of the political events in the battle for Brexit, and a memoir of his own personal crises during that time.Catherine works in a quiet corner of the bar but progress is slower than expected. The delay is nail-biting.She eventually joins them and says there have been problems which seem to be resolving themselves.They buy another coffee and wait, fearing the worse. Outside the cold snap is easing, and tennis players are making their way to the outside courts.Then, relief as Catherine says the manuscript has been accepted.They have lift-off. The book will be ready for purchase as soon as a message is received from the publisher. The meeting ends triumphantly.The next days the confirming message arrives. But when Tudor orders some trial copies, ‘computer says no’. There has been a problem with the payment.  He learns his bank is unable to confirm the details of his account.
