"He is one of the best road runners this country has ever produced, a two-time Olympian, having been at the Atlanta 1996 and Athens 2004. Gert Thys was one of South Africa's leading long distance runners and won the Seoul International Marathon three times. But this was not without some controversy, as he once tested for a banned substance and went through a legal showdown for six years before proving his innocence. Thys looks back at his career and also links up with some of his former rivals like Willie Mtolo and Shadrack Hoff.”
