We Love Hakka (Culture: 六堆日 Liudui Day)

「六堆」是針對客家族群居住在高雄、屏東地區的統稱。300多年前的6月4日，在六堆地區的客家祖先為了抵抗外來軍隊的威脅，組成民兵組織以保護家園。客家委員會為了紀念這些團結、勇敢並且辛勞的客家祖先，將6月4日為訂為「六堆日」，這一天，在高雄、屏東會升起六堆紀念旗幟以及舉辦活動，讓民眾認識六堆歷史、文化。 "Liudui" isn't a specific place, but rather a term used to group together the Hakka settlements in Kaohsiung and Pingtung. The history of Liudui dates back 300 years, to a June 4th, when Hakka ancestors organized local militias to defend their lands against invading rebels. To honor these Hakka ancestors, the Hakka Affairs Council designated June 4th as "Liudui Day." On this day, commemorative Liudui flags are raised in Kaohsiung and Pingtung.
