We Love Hakka (Culture: 神主牌 ancestral tablet)

from We Love Hakka 客家風情 · host ICRT

Hakka people believe that their ancestors are deities that bless and protect their descendants with peace and prosperity. There is a Hakka saying that goes, “the ancestors are in the hall, the gods are in the temple”. This means that gods are worshiped in the temple, and ancestors are honored in the family’s ancestral hall, where the ancestor tablet is displayed. Typically, a family shrine will only have room for the ancestor tablet, with no other deity placed on the mantle at home. -- Hosting provided by SoundOn
