We Must Go Up

Right before Revelation Chapter 4, we read in chapters 2-3 the words of Jesus who is exposing everything which He sees to be wrong in His churches. It is a discouraging revelation of the historical and present deficiencies in God’s people. Frankly, we could be tempted to get discouraged and walk away from these deeply flawed churches. But Jesus never does. Instead, we are given the remedy to overcoming all that we see that is wrong with churches. What is that remedy? To go up and up and up…into the very throne room of Heaven. When we get there, everything that we see, hear, and experience recenters and anchors us in the glorious victory that Jesus is accomplishing through a presently imperfect Church. When we go up, we find our hope, strength, and motivation to go forward.
