We Only Deal With the New

from Brilliant Perspectives · host Graham Cooke

Every situation is primarily about one thing: being made into the image of God and receiving an identity upgrade. Instead of making panicked decisions based on where we’ve come from, Christ living within us is the empowering presence that allows us to see who we are becoming and where we are headed with Him. Key Scriptures: + Romans 7:19. For [when I live under the old covenant law] I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing. + Ephesians 4:20-24. But you did not learn Christ in this way, if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught in Him, just as truth is in Jesus, that, in reference to your former way of life, you are to rid yourselves of the old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit, and that you are to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth. + Colossians 3:1-3. Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. + Romans 6:6. Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. + Philippians 2:13. For it is God who works in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. ___ To access the full teaching, check out our New Man Theology series on BrilliantTV.
