In 1 Samuel 28:5–19, we catch King Saul at his absolute breaking point. A massive Philistine army is knocking at the door, and when he reaches out to God for guidance, he’s met with dead silence. Instead of turning inward to repent, Saul spirals. He strips off his royal robes, slips into the shadows under cover of night, and sneaks into a medium’s hut in Endor to consult the dead.
