We Visited Israel’s Newest Settlement — They Said It Would NEVER Happen Again
from IDSF Daily Israel Briefing · host Moshe Davis
In today’s briefing, we visit the newly reestablished Israeli community of Sanur, located in northern Samaria. Just weeks ago, life began returning to this historic area after nearly two decades. Following the 2005 disengagement led by then–Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, Israel evacuated its communities in northern Samaria, alongside its withdrawal from Gaza. Now, new legislation has paved the way for rebuilding these towns, as Israelis return to the biblical heartland to renew a Jewish presence. In this briefing, Lt. Col. (Res.) Tal Nir discusses the revival of Sanur, the challenges of establishing a new community, and the evolving security landscape. He explains how military bases and outposts are developed—and why, in his view, the presence of civilians plays a key role in strengthening security in the region.
