Weather Sat Dec 16 2023 Dry today but big rain storm later Sunday into Monday

The big weather maker for this weekend will be an intense storm trackingacross Florida and up the Southeast coast with likely impacts to travel aswell. This storm will bring an array of weather including very heavyrainfall, gusty winds, coastal flooding, and some threat for severeweather from Florida to the Mid-Atlantic states. The latest rainfallforecast from WPC through Sunday evening shows potential for widespread2-4 inches of rain, with locally higher amounts especially along theGeorgia and South Carolina coasts, increasing the threat for flooding andflash flooding. Some of these rainfall amounts could also approach orexceed daily rainfall records for mid-December. Gusty winds and onshoreflow will also likely bring coastal flooding along much of the East Coastinto early next week. The low pressure system will deepen as it lifts upthe East Coast next Monday and Tuesday as well, past the short rangeperiod, with rain and wind impacts moving into the Northeast.
