This week's WeatherBrain is Karen Trahan Leathem, Ph.D., the lead historian for the Louisiana State Museum exhibition Living with Hurricanes: Katrina and Beyond. A native of Kaplan, Louisiana, she earned her B.A. at Louisiana State University and M.A. and Ph.D. in American History at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has worked at the Louisiana State Museum for nine years, researching and writing a broad range of exhibitions on Louisiana history and culture, including Mardi Gras: It’s Carnival Time in Louisiana. Her recent publications include essays in New Orleans Cuisine: Fourteen Signature Dishes and Their Histories (2009) and Louisiana Women: Their Lives and Times (2009).
