#TBT Artist: DJ Weaver – Week 3 I am focusing on Australian Hardcore legend Weaver. Weaver has made countless anthems including ‘Cannonball’, ‘Fading Away’ and ‘Come Into My Dreams’. His production has always been tight and well respected amongst his peers. He has released on many labels including Evolution, Warped Science, Raverbaby & Executive. I first met Weaver back at Atomic Playground 1 in 2000, I wanted to purchase his Extreme Energy CD and I paid $40. (Quite a nice little profit). It may seem expensive but that was the times back then, it was quite hard to get new music and I really enjoyed the direction he was taking. The majority of Happy Hardcore DJs still played older 90s Hardcore and Weaver was all about pushing the new. This in itself was a huge contributing factor to Hardcore growing in popularity in Australia. UK artists like Fade and Scott Brown were really pushing the trancier elements in Hardcore and I was incredibly excited about the future. Weaver was also pushing the newer sounds on CPX radio on Wednesday nights and DJing at every major rave event in Sydney and interstate. Weaver and I soon collaborated on the popular Bouncing Beats series and we made our first song together called ‘Get Up’, he also supported Executive for many years and released three vinyl EPs and countless mp3’s on the label. Although many years have now passed Weaver is still making tracks and pushing his label Weaver Files, Planet Hardcore & Nitrocore. His main focus these days is under his alias Bobby Neon and Hardforze but his love for Hardcore is still present.
