Webinar #103 Dr Calum Miller - Abortion: the harm to women

from ICMDA Recordings · host ICMDA

Recorded on 5 May 2022 for ICMDA Webinars. Dr Peter Saunders chairs a discussion with Dr Calum Miller. The abortion debate is often seen as a dilemma between the wellbeing of the mother and the wellbeing of the child: for pro-lifers, the child's right to life outweighs the mother's right to choice. In fact, the empirical evidence suggests that abortion has, on the whole, been detrimental not only to unborn lives but also to women generally. In this webinar Dr Calum Miller explains how women are likewise harmed by abortion and why Christians can offer a better way. Dr Calum Miller is a medical doctor based in the UK, and a research associate at the University of Oxford, researching abortion ethics and policy. He has spoken widely on national media, and across the world to professional groups and politicians on the harms of abortion and the need to protect both mother and child. He has taken part in numerous debates, including with the former CEO of the UK's leading private abortion provider. He has published on a wide range of topics in peer-reviewed journals and won prizes from the University of Oxford and the Royal College of Psychiatrists for his work on medical ethics. Song Against Songs, The by G. K. Chesterton (1874 - 1936) LibriVox LibriVox volunteers bring you 9 recordings of The Song Against Songs by G. K. Chesterton. This was the Fortnightly Poetry project for October 16, 2011.Chesterton was a large man, standing 6 feet 4 inches (1.93 m) and weighing around 21 stone (130 kg; 290 lb). His girth gave rise to a famous anecdote. During World War I a lady in London asked why he was not 'out at the Front'; he replied, 'If you go round to the side, you will see that I am.' On another occasion he remarked to his friend George Bernard Shaw: "To look at you, anyone would think a famine had struck England". Shaw retorted, "To look at you, anyone would think you have caused it". P. G. Wodehouse once described a very loud crash as "a sound like Chesterton falling onto a sheet of tin."( Summary from Wikipedia ) Summer 2011 | Public lectures and events | Video London School of Economics and Political Science Video files from LSE's summer 2011 programme of public lectures and events, for more recordings and pdf documents see the corresponding audio collection.
