Webinar #134 Dr Daniel O'Neill - Jesus' diverse healing methods

from ICMDA Recordings · host ICMDA

Recorded on 12 January 2023 for ICMDA Webinars. Dr Peter Saunders chairs a webinar and Q&A with Dr Daniel O'Neill. We all know that healing was a large part of the public ministry of Jesus of Nazareth. The major world religions and the primal religions share the concept of a divine healer. But what was unique about Jesus’ healing ministry? During this webinar we will explore the patterns of the Messianic hope in the Old Testament, the fulfilment of these in the New, and the many diverse healing methods recorded in the Gospels. From this, we hope to capture a vision for the diverse ways both the whole church and the whole Christian healthcare community can participate in God’s work of healing all of creation. Daniel O’Neill, MD, MTh is a physician-theologian and managing editor of Christian Journal for Global Health, Assistant Clinical Professor of Family Medicine at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, and holds a master’s degree in theological studies from Bethel Seminary. He has served on health and development projects among impoverished or displaced populations. He is a co-founder of Health for All Nations and author and co-editor of the book All Creation Groans: Toward a Theology of Disease and Global Health.

Song Against Songs, The by G. K. Chesterton (1874 - 1936) LibriVox LibriVox volunteers bring you 9 recordings of The Song Against Songs by G. K. Chesterton. This was the Fortnightly Poetry project for October 16, 2011.Chesterton was a large man, standing 6 feet 4 inches (1.93 m) and weighing around 21 stone (130 kg; 290 lb). His girth gave rise to a famous anecdote. During World War I a lady in London asked why he was not 'out at the Front'; he replied, 'If you go round to the side, you will see that I am.' On another occasion he remarked to his friend George Bernard Shaw: "To look at you, anyone would think a famine had struck England". Shaw retorted, "To look at you, anyone would think you have caused it". P. G. Wodehouse once described a very loud crash as "a sound like Chesterton falling onto a sheet of tin."( Summary from Wikipedia ) Summer 2011 | Public lectures and events | Video London School of Economics and Political Science Video files from LSE's summer 2011 programme of public lectures and events, for more recordings and pdf documents see the corresponding audio collection.
