Webinar #164 Dr Paul Coulter - Conversational Apologetics Principles from 1 Peter 3

from ICMDA Recordings · host ICMDA

Recorded on 31 August 2023 for ICMDA Webinars. Dr Peter Saunders chairs a webinar with Dr Paul Coulter. Every Christian should be eager to talk about our faith and God will often give us conversations with friends, colleagues or family members. Those conversations, rather than lectures or debates, are the primary context for apologetics – the defence of the faith. Someone asks you a question and you must decide how to respond. In 1 Peter 3 verses 13 to 16, the apostle Peter anticipates that scenario and provides timeless wisdom we can apply. In this webinar we’ll discover from him the character we must develop, the importance of relationships and the values and skills that shape effective apologetic conversations. Paul began his working life in medicine before moving into cross-cultural pastoral ministry, studying theology to PhD level, and teaching practical theology. He has written three books and numerous articles on pastoral care, discipleship, leadership, apologetics, and ethics. Since 2019 he has been Head of Ministry Operations for Living Leadership, training and supporting Christian leaders across the UK and Ireland, and occasionally elsewhere in Europe. He is also Executive Director of Christianity in Society, which connects Christ with contemporary culture online and in Ireland. He lives in Lisburn, Northern Ireland, with wife Gar-Ling (a geriatrician) and two teenaged children.

Song Against Songs, The by G. K. Chesterton (1874 - 1936) LibriVox LibriVox volunteers bring you 9 recordings of The Song Against Songs by G. K. Chesterton. This was the Fortnightly Poetry project for October 16, 2011.Chesterton was a large man, standing 6 feet 4 inches (1.93 m) and weighing around 21 stone (130 kg; 290 lb). His girth gave rise to a famous anecdote. During World War I a lady in London asked why he was not 'out at the Front'; he replied, 'If you go round to the side, you will see that I am.' On another occasion he remarked to his friend George Bernard Shaw: "To look at you, anyone would think a famine had struck England". Shaw retorted, "To look at you, anyone would think you have caused it". P. G. Wodehouse once described a very loud crash as "a sound like Chesterton falling onto a sheet of tin."( Summary from Wikipedia ) Summer 2011 | Public lectures and events | Video London School of Economics and Political Science Video files from LSE's summer 2011 programme of public lectures and events, for more recordings and pdf documents see the corresponding audio collection.
