Webinar #171 Dr Chris Cirucci - Chemical abortion: availability & complications

from ICMDA Recordings · host ICMDA

Recorded on 19 October 2023 for ICMDA Webinars. Philippa Taylor chairs a webinar with Dr Chris Cirucci. Chemical (or medication) abortion is typically accomplished with mifepristone and misoprostol. It is now the most common method of induced abortion. Although often perceived as safe, it has higher complication rates than surgical abortion, and particular complications are inherent in chemical abortion. Chemical abortion is often touted as a do-it-yourself method, and the pills are easily accessible online. This talk will review the data on the complications of chemical abortion with mifepristone and misoprostol and discuss the issues inherent with women self-managing their abortions without medical supervision. Christina A. Cirucci M.D. is a board-certified OB/GYN and long-time member of AAPLOG. She earned a B.S in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Tech and worked in the engineering field for seven years before pursuing a medical career. She received her medical degree from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia and completed her OB/GYN residency at the Medical College of Virginia. Dr. Cirucci then joined a private OB/GYN practice in Pittsburgh, where she worked for twenty years. Dr. Cirucci has volunteered her medical skills in various third-world countries in Africa and Asia and has made multiple trips to volunteer at Memorial Christian Hospital in Bangladesh. Dr. Cirucci has a heart for the life of the unborn and joined the board of AAPLOG in 2021. To listen live to future ICMDA webinars, visit https://icmda.net/resources/webinars/

Song Against Songs, The by G. K. Chesterton (1874 - 1936) LibriVox LibriVox volunteers bring you 9 recordings of The Song Against Songs by G. K. Chesterton. This was the Fortnightly Poetry project for October 16, 2011.Chesterton was a large man, standing 6 feet 4 inches (1.93 m) and weighing around 21 stone (130 kg; 290 lb). His girth gave rise to a famous anecdote. During World War I a lady in London asked why he was not 'out at the Front'; he replied, 'If you go round to the side, you will see that I am.' On another occasion he remarked to his friend George Bernard Shaw: "To look at you, anyone would think a famine had struck England". Shaw retorted, "To look at you, anyone would think you have caused it". P. G. Wodehouse once described a very loud crash as "a sound like Chesterton falling onto a sheet of tin."( Summary from Wikipedia ) Summer 2011 | Public lectures and events | Video London School of Economics and Political Science Video files from LSE's summer 2011 programme of public lectures and events, for more recordings and pdf documents see the corresponding audio collection.
