Webinar #175 Dr Benjamin Chang - Apologetics in a Post-Truth World

from ICMDA Recordings · host ICMDA

Recorded on 16 November 2023 for ICMDA Webinars. Howard Lyons chairs a webinar with Dr Ben Chang. The last few decades have seen the influence of postmodernism sweep the Western World. Today, evidence and reason are trumped by personal convictions and people’s “lived experience”. Fake news stories consistently travel faster and wider than true news stories online. And traditional authority figures are often viewed with automatic suspicion. How can Christians engage with apologetics and defending our faith, when our post-truth culture no longer submits to the authority of reason and evidence? Do we now need a new kind of “postmodern apologetics”? Dr Ben Chang is a writer, speaker and Emergency Medicine registrar working in London. He is the author of the new book “Christ and the Culture Wars- Speaking for Jesus in a World of Identity Politics” (published by Christian Focus Publications), and speaks regularly at conferences, churches and universities. To listen live to future ICMDA webinars, visit https://icmda.net/resources/webinars/ For more from Ben Chang visit https://www.benchangblog.com

Song Against Songs, The by G. K. Chesterton (1874 - 1936) LibriVox LibriVox volunteers bring you 9 recordings of The Song Against Songs by G. K. Chesterton. This was the Fortnightly Poetry project for October 16, 2011.Chesterton was a large man, standing 6 feet 4 inches (1.93 m) and weighing around 21 stone (130 kg; 290 lb). His girth gave rise to a famous anecdote. During World War I a lady in London asked why he was not 'out at the Front'; he replied, 'If you go round to the side, you will see that I am.' On another occasion he remarked to his friend George Bernard Shaw: "To look at you, anyone would think a famine had struck England". Shaw retorted, "To look at you, anyone would think you have caused it". P. G. Wodehouse once described a very loud crash as "a sound like Chesterton falling onto a sheet of tin."( Summary from Wikipedia ) Summer 2011 | Public lectures and events | Video London School of Economics and Political Science Video files from LSE's summer 2011 programme of public lectures and events, for more recordings and pdf documents see the corresponding audio collection.
