Webinar #188 Dr Pablo Martínez Vila - Prayer and personality

from ICMDA Recordings · host ICMDA

Recorded on 7 March 2024 for ICMDA Webinars. Dr Peter Saunders chairs a webinar with Dr Pablo Martínez Vila. Prayer is the highlight of our spiritual life, but we are more than just "spirits", we are a unity of body, mind and spirit. Our personality and temperament have a great influence on our spiritual life and our prayer life in particular.  This is why it is important to get to know how the weak and strong points of our personality affect the way we pray. Extroverts, for example, preferring action, will struggle to have a regular prayer discipline; introverts will find it more difficult to pray in public. Prayer should not be one more burden in life, but a pleasure to enjoy. Dr Pablo Martínez is a psychiatrist and he currently works at a private practice in Barcelona. He develops a wide ministry as lecturer and teacher in many European countries on topics like “Mind and faith”, “The therapeutic value of the Gospel in emotional problems” or “Taking care of yourself”. His books dealing with such issues have been translated into 16 languages. He served the International Christian Medical and Dental Association (ICMDA) as one of its vice presidents. To listen live to future ICMDA webinars, visit https://icmda.net/resources/webinars/ For more from Dr Pablo visit https://christian-thought.org

Song Against Songs, The by G. K. Chesterton (1874 - 1936) LibriVox LibriVox volunteers bring you 9 recordings of The Song Against Songs by G. K. Chesterton. This was the Fortnightly Poetry project for October 16, 2011.Chesterton was a large man, standing 6 feet 4 inches (1.93 m) and weighing around 21 stone (130 kg; 290 lb). His girth gave rise to a famous anecdote. During World War I a lady in London asked why he was not 'out at the Front'; he replied, 'If you go round to the side, you will see that I am.' On another occasion he remarked to his friend George Bernard Shaw: "To look at you, anyone would think a famine had struck England". Shaw retorted, "To look at you, anyone would think you have caused it". P. G. Wodehouse once described a very loud crash as "a sound like Chesterton falling onto a sheet of tin."( Summary from Wikipedia ) Summer 2011 | Public lectures and events | Video London School of Economics and Political Science Video files from LSE's summer 2011 programme of public lectures and events, for more recordings and pdf documents see the corresponding audio collection.
