from ICMDA Recordings · host ICMDA

Recorded on 25 April 2024 for ICMDA Webinars. Dr Peter Saunders chairs a webinar with Dr Richard Harvey The Elephant and the Ant: Mutual Understanding and Blessing? explores the experiences of being a Jewish disciple of Jesus in a church that has been majority world-based for the last 1800 years. What are the biblical theological and cultural differences in understanding Yeshua (Jesus), the church, Israel, and their relationship, and how do these impact historical tensions of antisemitism and current Jewish-Christian relations? How do we express the challenges of identity and unity, particularly in the context of reconciliation, justice, and peace during the current Israel-Gaza war? Richard Harvey is a Jewish disciple of Yeshua (Jesus) who writes, researches and teaches Messianic Jewish Theology. He pioneered the London Messianic Congregation and holds a PhD from the University of Wales. He is married to Monica, also a Jewish disciple of Jesus, and they have two children and three grandchildren. Richard teaches Hebrew Bible and Jewish Studies and served as Academic Dean and Director of Research at All Nations Christian College, part of the Open University, UK. He is a past President of the International Messianic Jewish Alliance. To listen live to future ICMDA webinars, visit https://icmda.net/resources/webinars/ For Richard's blog visit https://jewinthepew.org/category/otdimjh/ Youtube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@JewinthePew

Song Against Songs, The by G. K. Chesterton (1874 - 1936) LibriVox LibriVox volunteers bring you 9 recordings of The Song Against Songs by G. K. Chesterton. This was the Fortnightly Poetry project for October 16, 2011.Chesterton was a large man, standing 6 feet 4 inches (1.93 m) and weighing around 21 stone (130 kg; 290 lb). His girth gave rise to a famous anecdote. During World War I a lady in London asked why he was not 'out at the Front'; he replied, 'If you go round to the side, you will see that I am.' On another occasion he remarked to his friend George Bernard Shaw: "To look at you, anyone would think a famine had struck England". Shaw retorted, "To look at you, anyone would think you have caused it". P. G. Wodehouse once described a very loud crash as "a sound like Chesterton falling onto a sheet of tin."( Summary from Wikipedia ) Summer 2011 | Public lectures and events | Video London School of Economics and Political Science Video files from LSE's summer 2011 programme of public lectures and events, for more recordings and pdf documents see the corresponding audio collection.
