Webinar #198 Rev Dr Stephen Ko – Healing and embodied faith

from ICMDA Recordings · host ICMDA

Recorded on 16 May 2024 for ICMDA Webinars. Dr Peter Saunders chairs a webinar with Rev Dr Stephen Ko In 1 Corinthians 6:19 we are reminded that our 'bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit'. Christ incarnate is deity in flesh, and His spirit is incarnate in us. Living and worshiping incarnationally is consciously embracing what the Creator has designed in His image, from the finest, microscopic details to vital organs within our body, enabling the Holy Spirit to work in us. Weaving together insights from faith, science, and medicine, this webinar will reveal the marvellous ways in which our physical and spiritual health can prepare us to become instruments of God's healing in the world. Reverend Stephen Ko, MD, MA, MPH, MDiv, serves as Senior Pastor of New York Chinese Alliance Church in NYC. Dr. Ko’s healthcare specialties include pediatrics, preventive medicine and public health.  He is currently Adjunct Professor at Alliance Theological Seminary. Previously, he served as a Global Health Professor at Boston University and a Medical Officer for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. He has worked extensively in Africa and Southeast Asia on diseases of epidemic potential, helping low and low-middle income countries implement their national public health programs. Writing at the intersection of faith, medicine, and public health is a particular passion. His latest book is Faith Embodied, on how to live and worship incarnationally and glorify God with our bodies. Song Against Songs, The by G. K. Chesterton (1874 - 1936) LibriVox LibriVox volunteers bring you 9 recordings of The Song Against Songs by G. K. Chesterton. This was the Fortnightly Poetry project for October 16, 2011.Chesterton was a large man, standing 6 feet 4 inches (1.93 m) and weighing around 21 stone (130 kg; 290 lb). His girth gave rise to a famous anecdote. During World War I a lady in London asked why he was not 'out at the Front'; he replied, 'If you go round to the side, you will see that I am.' On another occasion he remarked to his friend George Bernard Shaw: "To look at you, anyone would think a famine had struck England". Shaw retorted, "To look at you, anyone would think you have caused it". P. G. Wodehouse once described a very loud crash as "a sound like Chesterton falling onto a sheet of tin."( Summary from Wikipedia ) Summer 2011 | Public lectures and events | Video London School of Economics and Political Science Video files from LSE's summer 2011 programme of public lectures and events, for more recordings and pdf documents see the corresponding audio collection.
