Webinar #202 Dr Chris Jenkins - The blessing of unanswered prayer

from ICMDA Recordings · host ICMDA

Recorded on 13 June 2024 for ICMDA Webinars. Dr Alex Bolek chairs a webinar with Dr Chris Jenkins The idea of unanswered prayer being a blessing may seem like a contradiction of terms. We feel we are blessed when our requests are answered, when we receive what we ask for and think we need. The truth is, however, that there are needs in our lives we don’t know about and a lack of understanding of important truths that God wants to address and the only way to do it is through unanswered prayer. Actually, delayed answer to prayer is more accurate even though at the time it feels like unanswered prayer. Today we will look at one reason why our prayers may be “unanswered.” Chris has been a Christian for five decades. Before going into family medicine, he worked with a missionary organization starting adult literacy ministries in Africa and Asia in order to help Christians read the Bible for themselves and to also give them a tool to reach their non-Christian illiterate neighbors by teaching them to read while sharing the gospel with them. He now works in medical education in the US as well as parts of the 10-40 window including the Middle East, Central, South and East Asia and elsewhere. He has been learning spiritual resilience throughout his Christian journey and finds that in every stage of life he must lean harder on the Lord, dig deeper into his Word, and pray for the spiritual resources needed to make it through trials with faith, integrity, love, and obedience intact. To listen live to future ICMDA webinars visit https://icmda.net/resources/webinars/

Song Against Songs, The by G. K. Chesterton (1874 - 1936) LibriVox LibriVox volunteers bring you 9 recordings of The Song Against Songs by G. K. Chesterton. This was the Fortnightly Poetry project for October 16, 2011.Chesterton was a large man, standing 6 feet 4 inches (1.93 m) and weighing around 21 stone (130 kg; 290 lb). His girth gave rise to a famous anecdote. During World War I a lady in London asked why he was not 'out at the Front'; he replied, 'If you go round to the side, you will see that I am.' On another occasion he remarked to his friend George Bernard Shaw: "To look at you, anyone would think a famine had struck England". Shaw retorted, "To look at you, anyone would think you have caused it". P. G. Wodehouse once described a very loud crash as "a sound like Chesterton falling onto a sheet of tin."( Summary from Wikipedia ) Summer 2011 | Public lectures and events | Video London School of Economics and Political Science Video files from LSE's summer 2011 programme of public lectures and events, for more recordings and pdf documents see the corresponding audio collection.
