from ICMDA Recordings · host ICMDA

Recorded on 22 August 2024 for ICMDA Webinars. Dr Peter Saunders chairs a webinar with Marion Knell “Long an occupational hazard among social workers, burnout is a growing problem among those on the front lines, including aid workers, medical professionals, legal services providers and resettlement volunteers.”- Katia Savchuck (The Development Set) (Bright Magazine) Those experiencing burnout are putting not just themselves but their clients in danger. Having been on the leadership of Member Care Europe and Global Member Care, Marion designed and instituted an MA in the subject. She now consults with European Freedom Network and Refugee Highway Partnership on Care for Refugees, Refugee workers and the Mental Health of refugee children. She has developed and recorded a course for workers and churches on Working with Traumatized refugees and Sustaining Refugee Workers, which has received CPD certification. She teachers regularly with CMF UK and is currently is delivering a course into Ukraine on Receiving Soldiers back from War. To listen live to future ICMDA webinars visit https://icmda.net/resources/webinars/

Song Against Songs, The by G. K. Chesterton (1874 - 1936) LibriVox LibriVox volunteers bring you 9 recordings of The Song Against Songs by G. K. Chesterton. This was the Fortnightly Poetry project for October 16, 2011.Chesterton was a large man, standing 6 feet 4 inches (1.93 m) and weighing around 21 stone (130 kg; 290 lb). His girth gave rise to a famous anecdote. During World War I a lady in London asked why he was not 'out at the Front'; he replied, 'If you go round to the side, you will see that I am.' On another occasion he remarked to his friend George Bernard Shaw: "To look at you, anyone would think a famine had struck England". Shaw retorted, "To look at you, anyone would think you have caused it". P. G. Wodehouse once described a very loud crash as "a sound like Chesterton falling onto a sheet of tin."( Summary from Wikipedia ) Summer 2011 | Public lectures and events | Video London School of Economics and Political Science Video files from LSE's summer 2011 programme of public lectures and events, for more recordings and pdf documents see the corresponding audio collection.
