Webinar #238 Dr Mike Soderling - A Christian healthcare perspective on Lausanne 4

from ICMDA Recordings · host ICMDA

Recorded on 13 March 2025 for ICMDA Webinars.Dr Peter Saunders chairs a webinar with Dr Mike SoderlingFor the past 10 years the Lausanne Health for All Nations Issue Network has been striving to help the global Church understand health from a biblical perspective and with that perspective to actively engage in caring for the whole person wherever she exists. Of equal if not greater importance is that the Church embraces caring for the whole person in the way of Jesus so that people from all ethne can hear about Jesus and that many will come to faith in Him. Lausanne 4 in Incheon/Seoul could play a key role in seeing this all become a reality but only if certain conditions are met. We will discuss what those conditions are.Dr Mike Soderling graduated from the Medical College of WIS and was in private practice (OB/GYN) for 10 years before serving in Central America for 11 years. Upon returning to the US Mike became Director of the Center for Health in Mission (now the Institute for Global Health @ WCIU). In 2013 Mike spearheaded the petitioning of the Lausanne Movement leadership to add an Issue Network focusing on health. This petition was successful and the Health for All Nations Network was birthed. Mike was also part of the leadership team for GAP 13 (wholistic health) during L4 and is involved in ongoing Collaborative Action Teams. To listen live to future ICMDA webinars visit https://icmda.net/resources/webinars/For the Health for All Nations Lausanne Network visit https://lausanne.org/network/health-for-all-nations

Song Against Songs, The by G. K. Chesterton (1874 - 1936) LibriVox LibriVox volunteers bring you 9 recordings of The Song Against Songs by G. K. Chesterton. This was the Fortnightly Poetry project for October 16, 2011.Chesterton was a large man, standing 6 feet 4 inches (1.93 m) and weighing around 21 stone (130 kg; 290 lb). His girth gave rise to a famous anecdote. During World War I a lady in London asked why he was not 'out at the Front'; he replied, 'If you go round to the side, you will see that I am.' On another occasion he remarked to his friend George Bernard Shaw: "To look at you, anyone would think a famine had struck England". Shaw retorted, "To look at you, anyone would think you have caused it". P. G. Wodehouse once described a very loud crash as "a sound like Chesterton falling onto a sheet of tin."( Summary from Wikipedia ) Summer 2011 | Public lectures and events | Video London School of Economics and Political Science Video files from LSE's summer 2011 programme of public lectures and events, for more recordings and pdf documents see the corresponding audio collection.
