Webinar #95 Doug Fountain - Strengthening Health Systems

from ICMDA Recordings · host ICMDA

Recorded on 10 March 2022 for ICMDA Webinars. Health System Strengthening (HSS) is the banner and rally cry for building resilience and improving timely access to quality health services for those most in need. In this webinar, we will review definitions of HSS; outline critical processes used by donors, partners, and authorities; and build a shared vision of success based on impact and scale. We will identify how Christians offer unique value to HSS efforts due to our scale, our unique voice for holistic health, and our ability to integrate the church and community with the work of health facilities. We will draw from Nehemiah’s experience rebuilding Jerusalem for inspiration. Doug Fountain is Executive Director for Christian Connections for International Health, a global network who work to advance health and wholeness. Previously, Doug was Vice President for Strategy & Impact, Medical Teams International (MTI); served in mission at Uganda Christian University; helped a reforestation program with the Tanzanian Anglican church; conducted research in mental health & substance abuse services in the US; and was an early advisor to the Christian Journal for Global Health. Doug holds an MPA from the University of North Carolina and a BS in Political Science & Economics from the University of Oregon. He lives in Annapolis, Maryland, with his wife.

Song Against Songs, The by G. K. Chesterton (1874 - 1936) LibriVox LibriVox volunteers bring you 9 recordings of The Song Against Songs by G. K. Chesterton. This was the Fortnightly Poetry project for October 16, 2011.Chesterton was a large man, standing 6 feet 4 inches (1.93 m) and weighing around 21 stone (130 kg; 290 lb). His girth gave rise to a famous anecdote. During World War I a lady in London asked why he was not 'out at the Front'; he replied, 'If you go round to the side, you will see that I am.' On another occasion he remarked to his friend George Bernard Shaw: "To look at you, anyone would think a famine had struck England". Shaw retorted, "To look at you, anyone would think you have caused it". P. G. Wodehouse once described a very loud crash as "a sound like Chesterton falling onto a sheet of tin."( Summary from Wikipedia ) Summer 2011 | Public lectures and events | Video London School of Economics and Political Science Video files from LSE's summer 2011 programme of public lectures and events, for more recordings and pdf documents see the corresponding audio collection.
