Your website design does not matter. Before you start creating branding, design elements or anything visual you need to focus on something else. Website architecture and customer journeys. Take pen and paper ans think what you want your website visitor to do in every page, every section, every next step. I do not care if your website looks pretty, refined and unique. Unless you nail architecture and customer journeys first it is designed to fail. Miserably.
