Wednesday, 26 August 2026: Markets advance and bond yields retreat

US equity markets advanced as bond yields and oil prices retreated, with technology stocks trading strongly ahead of Nvidia Corp’s second quarter result after the closing bell of tonight’s AEST – Dow added +160-points or +0.30%. Merck & Co Inc (up +3.84%) was the leading performer in the 30-stock index. Goldman Sachs Group Inc (+2.18%) and NVIDIA Corp (+2.19%) rose over >2%, with the latter snapping a seven session losing streak – its longest such streak since the seven-day stretch that ended 6 September, 2022.
