Wednesday, July 18, 2018 -Made New: In the Crushing

Scripture repeatedly points to the importance and significance of fasting. Jesus taught on the heart behind fasting and how it is about the desire to have a deeper dependency on God rather than to follow a tradition. Christ came to set us free from the bondage of sin and the slavery to the law. When we perform for people to look like a lover of God instead of taking the grace offered to us by Christ's death and resurrection, we look just like the Pharisees we are so often appalled by. True freedom comes in trusting God transforms our heart into one that desires His will above our own.
