An early winter storm is moving through the Great Lakes region and bringing a chill to Chicago for Thanksgiving. The Village of Oak Lawn has agreed to pay more than $800,000 to a man punched by a village police officer during a 2022 traffic stop. Plus, foot traffic is down in Chicago’s predominantly Latino shopping areas with many would-be customers scared off by Operation Midway Blitz. Although Immigration Customs and Enforcement has ramped down its presence in the area it’s unclear when the crowds will come back. WBEZ’s Michael Puente brings us a report on the state of Chicago’s Latino businesses.
