When a baseball player goes up to bat and strikes out, do they call him a “striker?” No, they still call him a batter… they say “the batter struck out.” Why? His job was to hit the ball with the bat; Just because he was unable to hit the ball during his at-bat doesn’t mean he’s not a batter.
