Our featured topic this week is heart health! The American Heart Association and sponsor Genentech recently donated 7 “CPR in Schools” kits for use in our secondary schools. These include 10 Mini Anne inflatable manikins and 10 automated external defibrillator training simulators, among other materials. The donors also held a kick-off event at Evergreen Middle School on November 25th and 26th where they taught hands-only CPR to 8th graders. At the high school level, Providence returned to conduct their free PlaySmart Youth Heart Screenings, which include an electrocardiogram or EKG, blood pressure reading, and more to rule out dangerous heart defects.
