The Hillsboro Early Learning Fair takes place virtually this week, with speaker panel events each night from 6 to 7 p.m. The Early Learning Fair provides an opportunity for families to gather information and community resources covering several topics designed to enhance and supplement a child’s first five years. Local preschools, child advocacy organizations, and businesses that focus on early learning will all be participants. Families will have an opportunity to pick up a physical goodie bag of resource materials prior to the event; locations and times for the goodie bag pick-up can be found on the Early Learning Fair webpage. The following week, HSD will open kindergarten registration. Children must be five years old by September 1st, 2021, to enroll for the 2021-22 school year. Register at your “home” school using the Enrollment Process as soon as possible. Doing so helps schools ensure they have the staff in place to welcome and support your child through a positive and rewarding experience. All families living in North Plains should plan to enroll at North Plains Elementary School. Through the upcoming boundary process, the current North Plains attendance area will be divided between North Plains and Atfalati Ridge Elementary Schools. Once that process is complete and new attendance boundaries are uploaded to our Transportation Routing and Student Information Systems later this spring, students will automatically be reassigned to the correct school and families will be informed about which school their child will attend.
