Our Featured Activity this week is TikTok4Tide. Shortly after the statewide closures in mid-March, Glencoe math teacher and soccer coach Tom Stephens began hearing from students about family members who had lost their jobs and were struggling. Wondering what he could do to help, the first thing that came to his mind was “what if we had a dance party to raise money for grocery store gift cards?” From there, Stephens created a TikTok4Tide Instagram site and Venmo account and launched a tournament among staff members. For each vote, people were encouraged to donate one dollar. The effort has taken off and has not only involved Glencoe staff, but also students. To date, more than $4,100 has been raised in support of families in need.
