Weekly News Roundup September 8, 2022

 Our stories this week include: (1) The Death of Queen Elizabeth II and the ascension to the throne of King Charles III; (2) President Biden's ominous speech in Philadelphia last Thursday, during which he said, "Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic"; (3) a heretical pro-LGBT article promoted by Fr. James Martin which attempts to pit what the author calls "texts of welcome" (found in the Gospels) against "texts of rigor" (those which categorically condemn unnatural vice); (4) an announcement from a Dutch diocese that Sunday Mass will soon only be offered in parishes every other week due to a shortage of priests; (5) Pope Francis' upcoming trip to Kazakhstan for the 7th Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions; and (6) the rapid increase of Evangelical (Protestant) Christians in Brazil, home of the world's largest nominally Catholic population. Note there was an audio problem in the first minute or so after the introductory music.  The podcast will start about a minute after the introduction plays
