Welcome everybody to a brand new episode of a weird adventures in space. My name is June. I am your GM and I am here to present to you the SHU's premiere Superhero sci-fi real play podcast. Phew.
Like I get exhausted after saying I'll be your GM. I'm in charge of the game. Yes, this is a game but to you who are listening, it'll sound a lot more like a story. We just use the dice to help us make some decisions.
Like to introduce the rest of my cast here and I will start with Sophie. Hello, I'm your Geezel. I'm here. I'm gonna do things for you.
I make him big plans. You have a great future. You should trust in me. You should let me plan your future.
Pretty hard to pitch for your insurance company. I gotta go hard. I like Brooklyn. Lookin'.
Hey, I'm Logan. I'm gonna be playing Yama Akita. And I'm probably gonna punch something in this episode. God, I hope so.
Did you? Rob. I'm Rob. I'm playing Chomp and I'm a little concerned about what Geezel has planned.
I would be too. Hmm. Zack? Hi, I'm Zack.
I play Arlo. I am not entirely certain what I'm gonna do in this episode. I've stopped making plans. Uh, Briar?
Hi, I'm Briar and I play Carrie. I trust in the Geezel. I don't know what a Geezel is. But I trust it.
That's me. Do the coins on Mars have been Geezel we trust instead of being god we trust? No, that would be perverse. Oh.
I'm not canon. Don't make my wife canon. No. And we will of course be joined by Mark who is broadcasting from a secret location known as his house.
Last episode of Weird Adventures in Space Episode 17 was the finale of the St. Sisigi story. Y'all beat a sun god and kind of beat up his autocre pretty bad too. So after a long ordeal, you get to bask in your victory.
Not for too long. In a couple of weeks. For two significant things happen. One, Arlo has been served with disciplinary measures for her handling of the Elbedo situation back from episode three of this very show.
Meanwhile, our good boy Yama Akita has been invited between elite martial arts tournament where all of the most powerful warriors in the solar system gather to figure out who's the strongest. Thank you for joining us on this episode 18, the 16,895th annual planet ex deadly arts tournament. Harvesting begins in the city of Amethyst Reach, a transplant city within Red Hills. It's sort of like a borough.
There are a lot of people that live in the city and they for the most part all call Union of Heroes member Arlo their queen. How much to Arlo's consternation? At the moment, Arlo is sitting with her workers helping to erect a memorial. Large shimmering gemstone.
They're hand carving the names of people lost during the St. Sisigi fight. Ever so slowly with perfect care and perfect calligraphy. Arlo, one of the workers looks up to you and says, boss, you ain't ever done anything like this before.
What's the occasion? Pressure. Badness. He goes, even the queen gets depressed.
Yeah. Wow, you got you have like everything. I don't have a lot of living people anymore. Well, I still have a lot of those, but I have a lot of dead ones too and I'd rather not have a lot of dead ones.
I hear you. I think we've all been mourning a lot. I just I hope you don't make this your fault or whatever. Like you were there and you protected us.
We're putting up this memorial today because you helped us. Yeah, I could say that I'm not going to, but that would be called lying. Trying not to do that. Your entire team starts cracking up with that.
That that time you are joined by Wayfarer and safety officer of Red Hills, the beacon. So Wayfarer, I'm gonna let you do the talk. Okay. All right, I guess we have to deliver a notice to you that the union has voted that you undergoes and disciplinary behavior for what happened with Obito and the time manager.
What? Happy to use the beacon says, as a member of the union, there are certain standards and bylaws that were expected to follow and and unfortunately what happened, El Bido is one of those lines that shouldn't really be crossed. No, no, no, it's going to burn in jail or anything like that, but it occurs to us that maybe if you're out there as a union member, not totally in control of your powers, not exactly sure how to use them in a way that's non-violent, then we need to find a way to get you back out here and have that trust and you do you understand? I don't remember the thing.
El Bido being violent. The beacon looks down and said, I think El Bido would disagree with you and so did our therapists, so did our doctors. He's lost a major portion of his memory. He's become incredibly unstable.
You attacked someone at the rehab facility. What? Yeah. And then when all the stuff with syncycology went down.
Oh, yeah. Yeah. A lot of people attacked each other. There's a whole big monument of your people that killed each other.
Yeah, I know. And believe me, I appreciate that. I really do. But I hope you can understand that I also don't want to be a corrupt cop and I don't want you to be seen as one either.
Okay. So if you agree to do this disciplinary stuff with us, it's not as scary as it sounds. We're going to put you on Mercury. We're going to have you trick.
I don't like that planet. I know that planet sucks. You know, you say that, but you're the reason why it's intact. I came back in two pieces.
I like that. I like having all my pieces where they're supposed to be. The beacon looks over at Wayfair and goes, Wayfair, were you there on Mercury? I think I showed up at one point.
Were you responsible for helping the prison become stabilized? Well, I read your reports and your reports suggest that your team, outside of you, were the ones that kept it together. I guess I'm just saying, Arlu, we want to keep you around, but we have to do something. The members of our union are not happy.
They don't want this to become a regular thing. I just don't like that planet. I can do disciplinary action stuff, but I don't like that planet. Okay.
Okay. That planet sucks. Honestly, you're taking this better and expect it. You have a little bit of a rep as a wild child.
If I could ask you before we go, and of course we're going to give you time to get your stuff and pack in all that. Do it. Is there a way that we can make Mercury better? Probably.
I'd have to figure it out. I'm going to be honest. We've left White Star up there alone for a long time. If you're saying it's not in good shape, well...
I mean, you've had two breakouts in the course of like three weeks or something. That's not a great sign for anything. But they have been contained, except for obviously the right way people. We're all in line with them.
And the fellow mistress lady that helps kill a bunch of people. Which you then captured him put right back in that jail for us. In a safer way, that's a good thing. That's still a lot of dead people that wouldn't be dead if she hadn't broken out.
Well, I agree, but there's no breakout proof prison, which is the problem. But what we can do is make one that's safer, has more precautions, and is more responsive to the need that we have. I'm just saying, it doesn't have to be a missed opportunity, but we pulled the union. We pulled all of our members internally.
Of course, we have hundreds of adjunct members. Something like 48%, only wanted a light suspension. Only 15% advocated for you to jail. I think we just want to see you succeed.
I don't know if this hero stuff is exactly what you signed up for when you originally came to us. So I can't blame you for any of that. But if you want to keep working with us, we have to do things the union way. Okay.
I don't actually remember what our decide. We've already been read it. I probably never read the contract. If I remember right, our Lou hadn't slept in like a year when she was giving this contract aside.
Exactly. You came out from the cold, basically. Yeah. And it wasn't even a contract.
Like, you couldn't leave it any time. But it's one of those things where like you showed up and helped, and everyone was like, well, let's give her house and take place to stay and food. I think Akita did like the paperwork to give her house while she hadn't slept in a year. Maybe we need to have the union rep get in touch.
Beacons like that's not necessary. I'm taking Elbito there tomorrow. I can just take her along with. Thank you, Arlo.
I appreciate you taking this away. Yeah. Sure. I would like to go back to Chisley.
Absolutely. Be can fly. Nods over at you, Wayfair, and says, hey, thanks. And then flies off.
Okay, Wayfair? You've got one more thing on your docket to take. All right. Okay.
There's a new kid living at the edge of town. Okay. A new kid that you just watched take a chomp out of an indestructible sun beast. Oh yeah.
I remember that. That was really cool. You've been asked by the union to see if he would be interested in perhaps joining. If nothing else to know more about him and ensure that he is kept safe.
Okay. Well, I think I can handle that. After talking to Arlo, no one really actually got a chance to explain to her what being in the union and being a superhero is all about and what she would have to do. So maybe I should try to do that with him so that we don't fuck up in the same way again.
I think that this whole leadership thing's pretty new to you. Oh yeah, I suck at it. Zai, you've parked your spaceship trini on the edge of the colony of Red Hills now for a couple weeks. Maybe long enough to call it home.
But let's be fair, you're still living on the outskirts. It's another beautiful day as the twin moons sunk down below the sky. The sun comes out. What you're going to do with yourself on this behind a.
The first thing probably doing the day is I would go into town and pretty much go around to any restaurants I could find and just eat. It's deep. It doesn't have to be a restaurant. I could if there's nothing that looks good, he would go to the dump.
Is this like something he needs to eat a giant pile of food or is this something he likes to do? When it comes to food, it's something he likes to do. So if I'm going to the restaurant, it's something that he would like to eat and he likes to experience the taste of things. Even like garbage, the first time it might taste amazing.
He may like that too. But also eating at the dump just continuously. He needs that to make sure he's healing Gavin's mind. He needs something to create something else.
So that's why he's always eating. There is a little restaurant couple of blocks away from Ortrini's Park. And it's basically just a cafe. You know, they serve breakfast, food until about 11.
And then they start throwing the burgers on the skillet. That sort of thing. Real classic United States American cooking. Greasy sandwiches and all that good stuff.
And in fact, you need as much as you'd like. So long as you're willing to do some work for the boss. Would that work? Well, they've had you carrying dirty plates to the back in Washington.
And they've had you clean in the outside of the body of the building for about 30 minutes. Before cleaning every plate, he will lick anything off or any excess food that are on anybody's plates. I know my character is gross. I know he is.
What did you order? So this is like an American diner type situation. Yeah, you could have anything that you would normally get like a waffle house or something. He would order a big breakfast of waffles, slapjacks, scrambled eggs, hash browns, American fries, sausage, links and patties, bacon, extra crispy, orange juice, apple juice.
Everything you would have at as a normal like, you know, family, big family meal breakfast, just all at once. And probably at the size of like a four person family for him. Okay. That's a nice little four person family.
Yeah. Okay, fair enough. At one point in time when you're enjoying your mountain of food, the chef comes back from behind the grill and goes, I'm going to just have to lick in the plate. I'm taking it here, taking the food.
Oh yeah, this thing you call a chicken fried steak. I love it. Oh, it's a classic. A couple of Americans come up here and teach me how to do it.
This guy's a nanthemian. He goes, I'm from the other end of the Milky Way. I didn't know about this until I got a taste. But it's just something about that grease.
It's a weird thing with me. I'm two different things kind of. And I have the memory of the taste, but not the experience until now. And so being able to experience that taste now and put it with that memory, it's amazing.
You know, I'm really honored that you come here to come get your breakfast all the time if you feel that starling about it. It's also you're the closest, but yes, I absolutely feel it. It's stronger than that. He says, now normally I have you just like helping around, you know, just like anyone else with it.
That's kind of the rules around here. I actually had a friend that was looking to talk to you. Your name's been getting around a little bit. Oh, okay.
I'd love to meet this friend. Rooner has it. You can eat, damn near anything. As far as I've figured I can, but I could always test it with something new.
He goes ahead and opens his data pad, which is what we call his face phones. He calls up his friend and his friend swings on over. His friend's got a giant like trash bin filled with like old batteries and old electronic parts and stuff. It's really, really hard to recycle.
And he was asking if in exchange for food, you'd be able to dispose of this stuff. Well, I don't need exchange for food. This is this is food for me too. So don't worry about it.
This is a meal. Just keep bringing it by training. He's like, what do you mean? Just bring it by training like dropping off at your house?
I believe I was given a mailbox. So you could put it by in the after by it. And I'll just eat it throughout the day and I go along. I can always throw some batteries in my pocket and toss them in my mouth when I need them.
The recycling guy looks over at the cook and goes, maybe you were a kid. This guy will eat anything. That's crazy. And also I will throw some of the stuff that he gave me into my mouth to prove to make look.
It's going away. They both sit there just shaking their head like, what the fuck? He goes, that's not going to kill you or anything. Is it?
No. In fact, if you need this actually recycled for anything, let me know because I can turn this into stuff for you. As long as there's something that needs to be kind of fixed. The recycling guy walks over and he goes, what do you mean?
He needs to fix him? What do you do with this stuff when you eat it? I kind of turn it into matter that can be used for other matter. I don't know exactly.
I wasn't a person who created me. I'm just the thing that was created. So if you need like data pants fixed and stuff like that, as long as I have some kind of the parts inside of me, I should be able to do it. He looks at you and he goes, my screen's cracked.
Okay. Well, then I'm going to throw up on his screen and to see if I actually do it good. Whether or not you do a good vomit. Yeah.
Well, no, my vomit is fine. But if I fuck up with the roll, it can mess up. It won't actually be healed or first right. Okay, cut.
I got a plus three. Okay. Yeah. That's you.
Definitely. You can see the glass remolding itself back into shape and it's pristine. The recycling guy picks up and he goes, this is magic. Are you magic?
No, I'm just something that really alien human, whatever. I'm just a thing. You're pretty cool by my book, man. I never seen anybody knew nothing like that.
I'm going to be bugging you a lot, man. I've got so much garbage around the house that I just like can't get rid of safely and gets it in the water, gets it in the ground. You turn it into magic barf. I'm here for you as long as you need it.
As long as I'm here, I can do it. Guy looks at you and he goes, I think you got a deal. As long as I'm around, you're going to be able to leave for free, my man. All right.
So I don't have to clean anymore. Not at all. Right, yeah. So you got yourself with a big meal, what are you going to do with the rest of your day?
Since I don't know anyone, he would be looking around for the other team, which I know Wink, Wink, I'm recording this later, so we don't have them here. Right. So are you just looking around for someone you might recognize? He was more of keeping to himself before him.
And since he met people who kind of knew who Gavin was, he's done so with him. He would look for them because he's very much like, he doesn't try to go out and seek stuff. It's another reason why he probably ate at the first restaurant he saw. Gotcha.
As you wander into the city, you give the distinct vibe that this is a really unique place. It's very peaceful. There are a lot of different alien species here. You count at least 18 different species.
It seems like a nice place to be honest, very different than some of the places you've been. As you keep wandering around looking for someone you might recognize, you spot a man in a crowd. He seems to be walking down the street on the sidewalk, listening to his headphones and his walkman. And it is the large cricket man, Wayfarer, who you helped in the last two episodes.
So Wayfarer, you are just vibing. Go on for your daily constitutional. And you notice your friend's eye. Ah, okay.
Um, I will go over and say hi. Hi! So, what, um, um, weather's nice isn't it? Yeah, it's pretty good today.
Hi. So I don't do this lot. Okay. This walking around being out here.
What should we be doing? What do you mean? Well, I mean, the last time we were together, we beat the crap out of a star person. Yeah.
And another star person. Sure. And now we're just kind of doing nothing. Yeah.
It's doing nothing, something unfamiliar to you. No, it's actually, it's really familiar to me, but if I get a taste of something and I really like it, I want to do more. I have a taste for adventure at the moment, I think, and I want to satisfy that hunger. I guess there's lots to do on Mars.
And I guess, no, that I think about it. I don't know much about where you're from, but if you're going to stay here for a while, it feels like you can get kind of lonely here. Maybe we talked about it a little bit and passing, but would you want to try to help save the universe? Yes, I would.
Do you know what a labor union is? I have no clue. If you're not busy, you want to come with me to go see Doctor of Duty, she's another person I work with. I'm right as rain.
Let's go. Okay. You can just walk over to the union office. It's a couple of blocks down the way.
You notice on at least these four blocks that you're walking, is that right? Mm-hmm. At least five different types of restaurants that could cook different types of food, some different cultures. Well, I'm going to stop at each one and get at least something to snack on the way.
Wait, there are Zai stops on every block to get new food. That get cool with that? Yeah, nothing's exploding, so. That get cool.
He does stop at that nice hallal place that you like. I'm pretty full of them. By the time you get to the base, Zai, I wouldn't say you're full, but you've had your pallet set aside. All right, good.
Yeah, I don't think Zai will ever be full. No, but you got to hit money, salt, sweet, all at the same time. The building that Wayfarer is taking you to looks rather official, formal, with a lot of glass and gold piping. It does make you a little uncomfortable.
It kind of reminds you of some of the buildings on Salacia, the labs that you would have grown up in. You can see on the front of the base, it says Union of Heroes, Mars Chapter. Wayfarer? Are you going to take him straight to Dr.
Dudad, or is there anything you want to show him here in the base? I guess I will walk him too with the hold of records first. So you're taking the light stroll, which you're looking for? I'm just going to show him the display case that we have laying around of other people that have been in the Union before, and displays of their stuff, the pictures, things like that.
Because of Zai's connection with, like I said, he has some of Gavin's memories. Like he can tap into him. I'll be amazed to know who some of these people are, at least. Zai and Gavin are both shared, same mind.
So what I want to talk to Gavin again, Gavin knows some of the heroes. I don't know which ones exactly, because I'm not sure who I'm being shown. He met Clarity Bell before with the teams, I believe, too. And either way, Rachon, he met her.
Yeah, there you go. Good. One of the cases that Wayfair is showing you is Zai is somebody you recognize. She's a woman wearing a pale powder blue superhero outfit, which is very unique.
This whole superhero thing is pretty much exclusive to Earth, and the culture's around it. It's pretty weird. And despite that, despite its uniqueness, you know this woman's name? You remember her voice?
You'd say I have a Clarity in my mind, of a ringing bell. Okay. Please tell me, he talks about a lot. What?
I'll try to explain how capital works. Okay. So you know how you go to a restaurant, and you get things in exchange for other things. Like you can do stuff, or you can help out around, and they give you food.
Yes, I eat things, and then they give me things that you don't understand. Yeah. That is something that you can kind of do that is like a job. A job is something people have here, and it's what they do during the day to help take care of the community.
Community job? Yes. I can understand that. The man inside me, Gavin, he used to work at a community center and teach kids about karate.
Okay. He was a writing instructor. I'm thinking maybe your job here could be that you are a superhero, like these people, and like me and the other guys that you met. What we do during the day is basically go around and try to save everyone's lives.
And that sounds great. It's a good job, but it's a very hard one sometimes. People die, people get hurt. Bad things happen to people who are superheroes.
But if you're willing to still give a shot, we need to, I think, more than ever right now. There's a big group of people got the RIGR Corporation who want people to just work all day, without getting anything cool in exchange. If we stop them, then we can keep working like we do here. More people get to do what they want, and they get nice stuff in exchange.
We're in. Wayfarer leads you down another hallways-eye. Down this hallway, you're passing by several science labs. They look again very similar to the ones that you were subjected to in Celasia.
By the time you get to the doctor's office, it is unlike the other labs. Noticeably, the first thing that comes to mind is that it's a fucking mess. There is a small colony of aliens living on her desk. Most of the machines have been left out and turned on.
And when you get there, she is very clearly welding some sort of robotic dog. This woman is a human woman in her late 30s, skinny and has robot arms, mouth, jaw. When she sees you come in, she goes, Oh, what's up? Who's this guy?
We have a new recruit. A new recruit? Oh, she looks over at you. What's your name, new recruit?
My name is Zai, old recruit. I can work with older crew. I'm the liaison here for the Union of Heroes on Mars, but I'm also the doctor. So if anything ever happens to you, where you get injured, you can come and see me, okay?
Don't worry about it. If anything ever happens to me, I'll just throw up on myself and I'll be fine. I like him, Al. And then immediately looks at Zai again and goes, Are you, is that Gavin?
Yes, anyway, Gavin is here. The Fishers and the Goo and all that. That is from me. My name is Zai.
I'm currently in control of this body. I'm helping him heal himself. Healing mental wounds takes a while. You brought me a can of worms, Val.
Kind of, but he's OP. He's OP? Yeah. What's happening?
I mean, I know OP means, but why is he? I'm going to pick up a scalpel and offer a desire. Snack? Helping his hand around her fingers and he hit the thing through her hand.
Like a horse. Dude, Ed looks at you and goes, Oh boy, we got an omnivore. And he's a guy I know. Oh, this is exciting.
Now you said you were writing the host body around. What's that mean? I was created on Solacia to help out war victims. Oh.
Me and my brethren were created and we would heal the host and then, as the host heals, we go away. Did you ever get to meet Gavin? Truly, no. When I first found him, he was in very much disarray.
And I felt sorry. And I decided that I would help him out. We talk through mental link because I'm inside of him and connected up to him. So can he hear me in there?
Yes, he can. When Zai says that, if Dude is looking at eyebrow raises also, it looks like it's an independent movement of what's kind of being said. Trying to be like, yeah, I'm in here. Oh, well, Gavin, I'm glad to see your back on two feet.
You're looking good. You're definitely not dead. Uh, Mr. Parasite, Mr.
Zai. Do you mind if we take a little time to I don't know. Look over some diagnostics, make sure you don't need any vaccinations against disease. Just basic stuff we do for any union member.
Do I have to? You don't have to. No. I will decline.
I am not a fan of people poking around at me. She looks over at Wayfarer and goes, you're cosign in the right? Yep. That's all I need.
Zai, before you go, there is one thing I wanted to give you. It's not much. She does a little thing with her hands and has like the minority report, holo-computer deal, pulls out a holographic keyboard, steps typing. She walks over to her printer, grabs a stack of 100 pieces of paper that just got spit out at high speed.
And she goes, the Gavin was never a member of the union superheros. He was younger. He was on the come up. And I think he even retired before he got hurt.
But the union likes to keep its eye out on young superheroes and metahumans. So I wanted to give you their file on Gavin. Okay. She hands it over to you.
I figure it might be hard, Zai being put in the situation you're in where everybody's expecting you to be someone you're not. Well, I agree. It can't hurt to know as much as they want me to be Gavin at the moment. He's part of me, but he's truly not me at the moment.
We can respect that distinction. And based on what Wayfarer said, you're a stand-up guy by yourself, Zai. Also, Gavin has been screaming something in my head. If you have the resources and are able to get it in here, he is looking for a certain car and an eagle ship that's inside of a volcano.
Dr. D.A.B goes from trying to be compassionate and reassuring to go like become complete bug-eyed cartoon mania and goes, a spaceship inside of a volcano? I don't know what the spaceship is. He just says an eagle.
He said it's a thing shaped like an eagle and it's been to the moon before. Okay, I've got like three hours of work to do on volcanoes now. That is exciting. Thank you, Zai.
Lovely to meet you. Hope to go to a volcano with you soon. I'm going to come on over to Arlu. So it's the next day and they give you a time and stuff to basically show up at the time.
I will arrive 10 minutes late. So the teleporter is in Dr. Dudad's lab. You're going to the Union Space on Mars.
And by the time you get there, you've got the beacon and Dr. Dudad and White Star in that room. Elbido is also tied to one of those standing gurnies with shields over his eyes and his mouth. So you can only breathe through his nose.
He does not look as good as I remember him looking. No, not so much. When you get there, White Star comes to you and says, Arlu, it's been a minute since we've spoken last. I've heard that you're going to be with me for the next few days.
Apparently. But I happened to this guy. I don't remember him looking as scary. Yeah, he became very erratic.
This is a beacon during the Cesarji uprising, helping one minute of attacking people the next. In the past two weeks that he's tied to settle down, he's made several threats towards people in the rehab facility. He's had unexplained discharges of his powers in a way that could have really hurt some people. We just want to get him to a place where he's calling again if he can't hurt people.
But I don't even know what the hell that's going to take. He's been through some things. This doesn't sound like magic shit. It wasn't that it made sense for it to have gotten worse after we undid it with it.
Unless he was already dealing with some of this before he met him. And what happened to him is that his life became dislodged. I've spoken to him. He's not doing well right now.
I imagine that you and White Star will be expected to make sure he's safe. Maybe he'll be able to see when he arrives. Dr. Dudad says, Arley, there is one thing that you should know.
You didn't sign up to me in prison, okay? And we know that. So if things get bad or things become scary in that prison, and you feel like it's not your best interest to be there, you need to use this. And she hands you something that's like the size of a phone.
Okay. This is an instantaneous teleporter. It'll take you back to my lab as soon as you press it. This is dangerous place to be, but I get the impression that it might be for the best at the end.
I'm probably going to forget that I was saying to this in about five minutes. I'm just going to be honest. White Star looks over at Ingos. Don't worry.
I'll be annoying about it. Then White Star looks at the Ingos. Queen Arley, are you ready to walk through the portal? Yeah, don't use that word.
It's weird. Just Arley? Yeah. Is that work?
Yeah. It's better. She goes, understand. I'm White Star.
I don't think we got a formal introduction. I'll be working on the other next couple of days, and by the time we're done, I think we're both going to be in a good place. She wheels Elbedo into the teleporter. I guess I follow in with a heavy sigh.
Yama Kita, you found a letter on your doorstep, inviting you to an inter-blackic martial arts tournament. In the letter, it specifies that you have been invited to fight on behalf of your planet, and that you will be joined by a native Martian named Roxia the Wrathbringer. You met her briefly when you came back to Mars. She's in a compatriot of Grogs.
Or I guess May your Grog now. One thing in the letter also specifies that this is a three-person team, and it instructs that you get together with Roxia to discuss who that third person might be. I think we said something about Akita going to train with her for a little bit after they got the letter. Yeah, for sure.
You can be trained in buddies. I think like when they're taking breaks or like after their training sessions, they probably discuss about who they might want. Yeah. Kita would ask like if she had anybody in mind from Mars or if she wanted him to pick.
You're invited to train with Roxia in the Underground City of Subterrax. Too much there is a road now. The driving instructions lead you to an enormous coliseum made of green brilliant verdant gemstones. Nice digs.
Her Roxia is waiting for you outside of the front and waves you over. She's an enormous forearmed woman about eight foot tall, dark green skin. She is yoked. She looks like she lifts weights when she's doing literally everything else.
She lifts weights when she goes to each. She lifts weights when she's sleeping. Nice to meet you. Formerly for the first time.
Nice to meet you as well. I am the chief gladiator, Roxia. I'm responsible for the safety here in Subterra. I'm assuming you received a letter?
Yes, I did. Kalex is so dramatic. I've been fighting in this tournament for hundreds of years. If you'd like to just tag along, I can show you the ropes.
Be my pleasure. Great. Shall we train? What?
What kind of training are you looking to do? She's mostly a hand to hand fighter. Obviously he'd focus more on hand to hand given it's more than likely not a lethal tournament. Yes.
Can I have you make two fight rolls? Yeah. Should I take stances into a counter just straight fight? You can do either.
No without. Say less seven and a plus three. Okay. The first bit of your sparring session, you're absolutely dominating her.
You move in with a speed that she can't really process. But given some time, she starts learning your little tricks. And because she wrote the critical success on her second fight roll, she manages to pin you to the ground. She's pushing down on you on your chest and saying, this is a non-lethal tournament.
So this is about as bad as it has to get. You submit? Yeah. I do.
She lets you up and pulls you up by your forearm. You do the thing from predator where you squeeze each other's forearms like this. And she goes, you're a very worthy combat me. Thanks.
I've been doing this since I was 10, I want to say. You got started early, huh? Yeah. And my mom was what earth would consider an Olympic level athlete?
Damn. We watched the earth Olympics here. So that's pretty high level. Yeah.
What about your father? He. When I say mom, I mean the woman who raised me. She was actually my aunt.
Oh. My father and mother disappeared when I was 10. And I just recently found out that he apparently fucked off. Such an ignoble into a family.
I'm glad you found yourself in a better place. You walk with strength. Yeah. Something tells me you may not be aware of what this tournament's about.
Does anyone on your team know what this deadly arts tournament? Not that I know a. Tens of thousands of years ago, Prince Killik's a planet X's father, the Mad King, established an interplanetary fighting tournament. To discern who's planet had the strongest fighters?
16,000 plus years passed. And every year there is a victor. I've been fighting on this tournament for hundreds of years. Mars has won twice.
The competition is incredible. You will be pushed to your absolute limit. But it is a non-lethal tournament. Fighting groups of three.
One at a time. So we'll need a third. But I'm telling you the prize this year. The prize this year is worth it.
Are you familiar with a place known as One Wish Mountain? Never heard of it. Somewhere where the lens between this reality and the next breaks. There exists a mountain.
Floating throughout the solar system. Teaming with magic. The rumors say if you find One Wish Mountain, you're granted One Wish. And then it disappears.
Until it's done again. Prince Killik's claims to have scouted the location of One Wish Mountain. And is giving its location away as a prize to the victors in this tournament. You could have anything you want.
Like spicy enough for you? Sounds great. Good. Then let's get out there.
Do you have anyone in mind for a third? Unfortunately, the Subtractions have not put a high priority in arms combat. I suited it to be a bit of a rough name. Oh, well, sir.
I could probably ask a few people on my team say if they'd be interested. Oh, pretty decent fighters. I'm sure with a little bit more training, give them up to at least par. She laughs and says, it's par fighters.
You defeated Sing Sizzage. Give yourself some credit. Your team is filled with remarkable people. Any one of them would be welcome, guess.
Would you like to train again? Absolutely. You two train for a couple more hours. She eventually takes you over to a bar and you get some food and some Martian beer together.
Martian beer is just gonna raid. It's fermented bug juice, but it tastes great. Nice and smooth. So it's you two in the Union, Paul, Zai, you're technically a Union of Heroes member.
Now you got your little membership card. You have the option of choosing a code name if you'd like. At the moment, he'll think about the code name, because I don't know anything if I want him to have one or not yet. So can it become like a badge that he can wear like a Sheriff's badge?
That just says like, it's his, I don't know what the type of thing is, but he wants to wear like a Sheriff's badge. Yeah, actually, Akita wears one like that as like a giant pin. So you can absolutely do that. Okay, good.
Then I'm stealing from Akita. Good. Yeah, you can absolutely do it. And they will give you like a unique super costume if you want.
Sure, but for some reason he's very into white. Wait for you get pulled away by the karate tournament. So if you leave him here with the Union guys to get set up, you can go take off to plan a mix. There's a couple more things to do in the Union base to finalize everything.
They show you the cafeteria. Mm. Trust me, dude, that cafeteria is all you can eat. They also offer you a home if you'd like one.
Nope, I have a ship that I like to live on. But thank you. They also offer you a vehicle if you'd like one, which is kind of like a moon buggy. How small is it?
How long is the buggy, really? It's like a two person thing. It's not very big. Yeah, I'll take the buggy.
Okay, they're pretty much given to everyone here because they're super efficient. Like it's a safe way to get around town. All right, well, thanks. They get you all set up and you get a chance to go back to the trainee.
What they hand you before you leave is a communicator. So a way that you can get in contact with the rest of them. Yeah, he'll probably sit outside of the trainee because he has a little, you don't like it a trailer where you sit down and you drink your beers and you get ready to relax for the day. He has a set up like that.
Like there's a little fake palm tree and all that type of stuff, like some shading overhead. He's going to be shoving batteries and stuff that people want in recycling his mouth while reading up on Gavin. Okay. I'd say you get a couple of hours to read up on Gavin.
