While salvation is a one-time decision, our relationship with Jesus is ongoing and requires daily cultivation. The question becomes whether we're making Jesus feel welcome in our daily lives. The hymn Joy to the World, written by Isaac Watts in 1719, captures this beautifully with the line Let every heart prepare Him room. This isn't about earning God's presence, but about creating a welcoming atmosphere where He can move freely in our lives. There are ten practical ways to welcome God's presence: receiving Him daily with gratitude, spending quality time in His presence, loving Him completely with heart, soul, and mind, loving others as ourselves, serving with humility, choosing forgiveness, going the extra mile even when tired, loving our enemies, following His daily guidance, and living our faith openly. This Christmas season offers an opportunity to move beyond just celebrating Jesus to actually making Him feel at home in our hearts and lives.
