Andy marks and lifts his ball (Ball A) to see if it is cut or cracked. There is a scuff mark on the ball, so he decides that he is allowed to substitute. He replaces another ball (Ball B) on the spot and miraculously gets it onto the putting green with his next stroke. On the putting green, Ross questions Andy, whom shows him the scuffed ball. Ross strongly disagrees with the substitution, so Andy lifts Ball B from the putting green, replacing Ball A on that spot and holing out.
