"Welcome to the Struggle!", Ep. 3, Gen. 6: 1-22, 10:00 AM, Neil Woodbury

from Coolidge Christian Bible Class

We hope this lesson is useful in your day to day life! The point is to encourage everyone that the struggles in this life are not just for “you” only, but is common to all that share in this life experience. Some questions many ask; 1. Why do we struggle in this life? Does anyone care? 2. What is the source of our struggles? 3. Why does God allow hardships in people’s lives? 4. Does the Devil make us sin? 5. Is there any way to not be ruled by our struggles, emotions and world events? Now, as we go through some scriptures and accounts in the Bible, do we see answers to some of those questions? I think we already have some good answers to numbers 1, 2 and 4 so far! Observation of mine; I believe that many more people in this world are angry at God rather than love him. A. When we have everything we want and need, we do not think about our Creator. B. When we have a great need or sorrow, we plead to Him for rescue. C. If He does not speak to us personally, we are angry with Him and our needs are not supplied. Again, I believe the problem is with mankind and the great struggle we have with conforming to the will of God – simply knowing what is acceptable to Him. We move on in the years of mankind from Adam to Noah, who was 500 years old when God spoke to Him in 2612 BC (2513 BC, The Flood) – some 1554 years from creation. Read Genesis 6: 1 -8 A. The condition of mankind? B. Noah found favor in the eyes of Jehovah C. God judges the works of man Read Genesis 6: 9-22 A. Verse 13; “from the earth” (not with) B. From LXX; verses 13-14; a. "the earth (physical) remains, the work of the wicked was deluged. Note; Does this history of God dealing with man offend many? Yes, but why? Man had brought corruption upon the lives of all that had the breath of life in them. So, who really caused the worldwide Flood?
