In the dead of night as people sleep that is when the spirits creep as the bell tolls three dark things take power We like to call it the supernatural Hey, welcome to the supernatural hour. This is your host Raven. This is frustrated Chad This is Emmett. There's a drink.

Yeah, Chad's about ready to throw the soundboard through the window He has performed miracles tonight You know assisted, you know by by you Raven because you know you ultimately have the Clarity of the inspirational thought but yeah amazing work you guys. Thank you. I literally did So we have a soundboard what you use when you make a podcast so you can make it sound good And we've had this we've been doing this podcast eight years eight years nine years a long time and only two for me So, you know, we've had this issue maybe two or three times in as many years as we've done this and there's a magical button And I said did you push the magical button and he did I literally watched him push the magical button the magical button it is It's magic and nothing happened and we decided to reschedule. We everybody logged off of zoom Five minutes later, do you push the magical button again and everything worked?

So I was that was everybody said come back The inspiration of Raven So Chad was the one pushing the buttons and having the stress that's that was the extent of yeah, yeah, definitely It was all in here, but I don't know if he was sweating so I'm gonna down off the stress. It's like Good job. Yeah, so if he sounds tense, that's why Well, you guys are using equipment that was designed by Thomas Edison, right? It's got tubes and it's a little newer than that Yeah, a little bit.

Okay. Is it radio shack? It's radio shack, isn't it? He's kid he's kid.

No castle about it. He wouldn't about radio shack. I've seen this stuff guys It's top of the line these microphones. I wish I could own one of these microphones.

Okay, these are these are these are Japanese made microphones Not Chinese made microphones in their studio Alright, should we get going with some business dad? Yeah, we got some business We have a new paranormal investigation coming at the petite needs school on october 28th at 8 p.m You can go out to our events paranormal.com site and hit the events tab or it's right on the front page to To go out and register for that event. We're looking forward to it. We're gonna do something special petite need is such an awesome venue That is that is actually one of my favorite venues in salt lake and utah counties.

That's it. It's I have had some of the most phenomenal Experiences at petite need so tell them what we're gonna do it's gonna be fun. So where costume We're gonna give up prizes keep in mind that petite need is a museum and there's a lot of things that can be knocked off and knocked over So keep your stairs and their stairs, you know, so keep your costume investigation friendly But that will be fun. You know don't come with all sorts of boxes and be a transformer If you want to participate.

Yeah, exactly in the paranormal investigation remember you're going to be doing a lot of this in the dark Yes, and so where you know where clothing or costume that will let you navigate and function fully In the dark and I don't want to be kicked out because we knock stuff over so if you're coming a great big costume I'm gonna make you do the lobby. That's it if you guys embarrass us We're gonna say you're a wino that just stumbled in and you're on your own with the slc pd. Okay, so then you get the lobby the bathroom and the And the lunchroom. Yeah, there you go.

Okay, but I look forward to that. I look forward to all of our october presentations Those are amazing. Yeah, so we also have three libraries that we're doing and the libraries If you've never been we call them our dead talks. It's like a TED talk but we're ghost of dead talk because I'm that clever That that was you guys get to ask questions too.

There's question and answer so if you're a hardcore ghost investigator This would be a little different because most of it is a presentation We used to call it paranormal 101 where we kind of describe what ghost hunting is and why we do it What it is that we do in different aspects blah blah blah and it's about an hour an hour and a half We have you know a question answer period. It's really for people that have never done it before or want to know a little bit more about it Bring your own snacks, but the presentation unless you can just bring vell they provide snacks. It's spring bill. Just cool.

Excellent. Excellent. Yeah, you spring bill So, um and then we do a little you know kind of a really brief investigation if you've ever been on a public investigation with us We'll do three rotations or four rotations of maybe 45 minutes This is going to be two rotations of maybe 20 But I think the presentation is very interesting. It's very informative Also, if you have friends neighbors relatives that you've been trying to get to come ghost hunting with you But they're too scared or they're not really sure because they don't know what it's all about This would be an excellent.

This is it. This is it. Yes, the preside is what you're going for You're going to be educated and the ghost hunt afterwards is the icing on the cake Yeah, it is it is abbreviated for what we usually do but all of these locations are active and and I can't guarantee That there will be activity but I can almost guarantee that you will witness some kind of spiritual activity at each of these locations I have never not had some sort of activity at one of these library presentations before one of our their history is so rich I mean, how can they not have activity? Absolutely.

So, um, yeah, so come to you know come to those because they're fun They're free. They're very informative Uh, I've had people say we really want to hear the presentation But we do not want to ghost hunt and after we've done the presentation they've stayed they said, okay This is an scary as we thought it was going to be so I love these are one of my favorite things to do for these presentations I don't know how many people, you know, everybody has their own story for getting started in this, uh, field of interest But um, it's funny because you know people that's they've had an experience and they go Oh my god. That was amazing. I'm never gonna do that again.

That was so scary and then a week later They're back doing it. They're getting into it deeper exactly right The very first official ghost hunt I went on they asked if I wanted to sit in a room with a laser grid by myself Up at Fort Douglas and I was like good. That's terrifying and now look at me now. There's a demon in that room.

Let me in Yeah, now it's like you want me to sit in a room in a haunted basement for an hour with a laser grid, uh, you know, can I have a cheeseburger and a chocolate shake? Right, so remember good. You know Okay, you know, I'll do it. Can I have a foot rest?

Yes, sir. Is there a bathroom close? We had an investigation at the Chapman Library in Salt Lake on the sixth and they're great investigations and we're having upcoming presentations at the american fork library Where's that happened in american fork and that's on october 19th and then we're having another one at the springville library in springville, utah on monday, october 23rd And we will have a full report for you on chappin on our next episode of the supernatural hour Yeah of the three of the chappin has the most fantastic stories. It's a Carnegie library.

It's got some incredible history. Yeah So that's pretty much it for the events and the business. I can't think anything else businesses brought to you by castle photo art Go to castle for all of your photo art needs And we haven't had a residential since the last one that we talked about Um, but our recording schedule is such that we could very easily actually have one by the time this posts But you know, it's funny. You could sometimes wait wait on a residential for months and months and months and then Uh another time it was a fall out of the sky and happen and you never know exactly exactly the last one we did I think we only had a couple of days notice on that one.

Yeah, it is october. Oh, another thing uh, indian hills horror. Yes So the indian hills horror is also coming up, uh here just before halloween It is friday october 27th and saturday october 28th and I think that goes from pretty much dusk until Uh 11 o'clock and then on halloween tuesday october 31st and they go to tell 10 o'clock that night because it's a week night Remember dusk comes early this time of year. So there's a lot of hours.

Yep And they put like 2,500 to 3,000 people through last year in in three days that they they get busy So I would recommend going early 3000 people. Yeah. Yeah, wow amazing good good work guys. Good work Yeah, and it's I've been to a few paid haunted houses You know spook alleys and this one is just as good if not better I would I want to stick my neck out say it's better than something I have actually what's the chainsaw factor Can you give us a chainsaw factor zero to five?

I don't so five is good five is the best. Yeah zero is no chains zero is a weed wacker. It's a six Oh my god, the demons came and we went back to wacker. I was There's there's an actual chainsaw there some years it's been different.

Yeah, I mean they mix it up It's not the exact same thing every year. So if you went last year don't think oh, I'm not gonna go this year They they have a different theme every year. They'll change the themes. I think last year was a stranger things last year.

Yes, which was a very interesting Lot of fun and they've done you know, so it's themed every year. Yeah, is that what you're yeah theme. Oh cool and there's lots of Elements that will be the same from year to year that are re-imagined a little bit and some are just classics that they're really good There's one that's just back by popular demand. It's like everybody everybody loved that one So we're gonna improve on it a little and bring it back for you now There's one room that's all just completely black and there's some you know, it's a black light room and there's some hanging Like hockey goalie masks that just kind of are free floating around and everything else And then there's a couple of people in there wearing hockey masks in black outfits and all of a sudden they move at you Chad you and our teenagers in the 70s.

We know about blacklight posters and galleries and that is so cool That's one of the fan favorites Yeah, a little story on there some of our grandkids actually participate in and they're pretty creepy when they do that one of those creepy grandkids Little people in scary situations Our little funny and doc was there and his son was in this black room with as the as the second masked person and there were a couple of Older teenage kids that kind of saw the the little guy and and doc was standing over in the corner standing still to see what they were gonna do And they thought he was just a prop right? Yeah, well, right? Yeah, the kid moved and they kind of realized that it was a kid and then we're starting to make a move towards him and And try to make the little kid, you know, yeah the little kid actor, right? He didn't scare us and then all of a sudden doc comes busting through.

It's like not my kid That's perfect. So so you come do be respectful of the actors of yeah, and doc is He will be subject to the wrath of hell literally. So be ready So yeah, you don't want to make doc Maddie's like the Hulk isn't that you don't want to see me when I'm angry? Yeah, he from a child.

He was that way. He's always been that way don't piss up doc and he's a good dad and good dad and as a Doctor in the ER the nurses you don't mess with the nurses if you're a president a patient in the ER because he just does not put up with We are we are awfully proud of doc. We are very proud of doc and speaking of doc He he had a meeting one late so he can't be here and then we have to excuse Jess again She's got something going on. So yeah, so teachers physicians.

Thank you both. We appreciate you both so much You'll never know how much we appreciate you. Yeah, there was one situation where doc was it in a medical? With the patient the guy had been giving the nurse some grief and doc came in and just you know He came in and just pointed out to sit down and all the nurses did to You guys All right, so main topic Where are the werewolves there wolf where are the wolves were wolves werewolves not where are the wolves that was such a Bad dad joke.

Well, I'm a bad dad Who doesn't love werewolves? Well, you know, it's Halloween time and exactly exactly where was it's just the perfect time right now At the moon we have we have a Friday the 13th in October, right? So what better thing to talk about than werewolves? Public investigation at the same time we tried we tried Long story there, but we tried to have one on the 13th and I fell through and then we got the opportunity to get Be a transparent here, but we did try to book something on the 13th And we worked on it for a long time and it fell through and then it was kind of too late to redo where the what town are these tickets in Texas, but the team is playing the four werewolves, right?

No, the horned frogs That's close enough an animal is an animal right by you and the T c o horned frogs. I bet there's I bet there's a haunted bridge next to T c u Where the hard frogs are hard frogs are yeah, exactly. We will find one and we will get a picture. Okay, so okay, so werewolves werewolves So you guys want to start on werewolves or do I mean start?

No, I know you've got something prepared for us I want to see where you go Scary to see right now. It's a very wide topic I'm thinking Lawrence Talbot. I want to see where you go with this So I just mentioned Warren's even we're fine. Oh, I love Warren's even I was also gonna program that on my side chain music But I didn't out of respect for all of you So I slept like every half hour.

I mean I woke up about every half an hour I'm finally woke up about four forty five and there was no going back to sleep and not if you were a man you if you were a man You'd have like a typical press date. So, you know, what's the problem? I don't know usually you know, maybe you're worried about something or your brain just won't shut off There was zero reason and I've been going right now. It is seven thirty at night I've been going like pretty much nonstop for 24 hours And so yeah, whatever happens to come out of my mouth just realize that I'm working on like little sleep ahead I can eyeballs have that dry tie So we're going for the judge to have mercy.

That means it so you know when it came to werewolves, you know all the you know all the popular The popular and we'll kind of jump into that a little later But I thought I have never really heard of where were we'll start it. I mean everyone knows where Dracula started and Frankenstein started But I thought what about werewolves so I kind of looked up some History on it and the earliest that we know of in Western pros anyway, and that's the word that is on the internet Western pros Here we go was the epic of Gilgamesh Gilgamesh that's like that's smart. That's biblical almost pretty good. Okay.

Yeah, I hear Gilgamesh And you know what it reminds me of it reminds you of the Star Trek episode where Picard and the gorg thing Couldn't communicate. Oh, I hated Star Trek the next generation. Don't know that was a wrap up. Oh, that was so awful That was the best one.

Okay. No, so no Drake was actually right reminds me of Smurfs Smurfs because the bad guy was his name Gilgamesh. Yep. Thank you.

I have to admit. I am not up on my smurfs All right, Smurfette history here. Yeah, so I was like the epic of Gilgamesh. I just immediately started la la la la Hang on.

I gotta tip. I gotta tip my screen blue here. Hang on. Okay.

Go ahead Epic of Gilgamesh is quite epic because it also has a flood story in the epic of Gilgamesh So you have floods like world floods like Noah and werewolves so Now I have to jump in here. Did you ever see the No, the robot chicken the robot chicken episode when Gilgamesh finally defeated the Smurfs, right? He finally did and he gathered up their little bodies I mean a big pot of soup which is what he's been wanting to do forever, right? Eat these freaking Smurfs He cooked him up and he seasoned them and he just sat down to this big bowl of soup and took one sip and went And shoved it away from him threw it out Anyway, so everybody has just stopped listening to this episode because we are so often the weeds that it's not even We are definitely in the weeds but as long as we're off in the weeds if you're not a football fan the Football field at Boise is blue when they call it the Smurfter and it's painful to watch games on that Anyway, especially when they're playing in their blue uniforms.

I would hate to play football in Boise this time of year So okay, move back to back back to werewolves back to werewolves. Scary stuff scary stuff And the epic of Gilgamesh so basically it was it kind of came about in the epic of Gilgamesh that Gilgamesh jilted a potential lover because she turned her previous lover into a wolf So that's kind of the first werewolfy thing that has kind of come first of all How do you jilted a lover who has the power to turn you into a wolf that I just don't get it I would not be crossing this lady at all. I'm sorry exactly. It's like you've got the power to turn into a wolf We're gonna just keep gloves.

Yeah, whatever you want. Whatever you want dear anything you want anything anything I can turn into a wolf. I get really ugly So that So then the next kind of the next time we see this is in Greek mythology. I'm in the legend of light like like in Like yeah, like it's yeah Well, that's where the the name lichens came from is from like a in yeah like it's they like a green a green fungus that grows on rocks, right?

Likeens different different different kind of like it's okay This is spelled l y c a o and and the interesting thing is I was reading this on the internet because I'm a very visual Learning you could tell me something a hundred times. I don't got it But you write it down boom it's there so and then Chad is kind of the opposite in a way because he can listen to stuff and remember it at all So he's listening to it. I'm over on the computer reading that's because he remembers the 70s girl He remembers the rock and roll. I remember some of the 70s.

Yeah, not enough. I was like in kindergarten. Yeah, I know not enough I'm not buying it. I'm not buying it.

Okay, so yeah kid right in the 70s wasn't enough to go on So it's spelled l y c a o n and which means wolf like right? Yep, well that's the wolf like came from so I was like wow and they pronounced it where they didn't pronounce it like in whatever So he was the legend says that he was the son of Palis, not Pegasus, and he anchored Zeus because he fed Zeus a meal of a sacrificed boy and some of the stories say that it was one of his own sons This was one of Zeus's sons and so obviously Zeus is gonna be pissed off I think anybody would be pissed off if they realized that dinner was one of their children, right? And so Zeus turned like on and his sons into wolf some people say just his son some people say just like on that That is kind of the Greek mythology where wolf Yeah, and that's where like Anthony comes from the meaning mythology Well, I get back there are ways yeah, I think this has been one of the more obscure ones because when I was in high school I was all over Greek mythology. It was my favorite.

I read it a lot Red every story they just don't like tally because it doesn't involve the zoo speaking good and Hercules and all that right and I was like oh I've never heard of this before not that I'm like a scholar and I put every you know in high school my exposure to all the Greek and Roman myths was Edith Hamilton's mythology and that was pretty much it right Oh, I read every book on it I could find oh cool. I was really good at it at one point I don't remember anything now, but okay, so this is actually the one that I found the most interesting was an Nordic folklore Have you guys heard of this one very? Yeah, there was actually and I don't have it but a lot of werewolf lore in Rome and 425 BC BC and a little bit of that comes down to even the founding of Rome with The wolf mother and Romulus and Remus you might have seen the statue and there's some some werewolf kind of implications there of you know the she wolf protecting the children, so that was kind of interesting and there's a Some other legends around that and then I and then the north was the next one that I saw so go ahead Yeah, so the one that I ran across I'm sure like everything there's a bunch of different versions But the version I ran across was called the saga of will song go will song go it's a father and son and they were Traips and around and it was very brief. I didn't go into a lot of details, but they found wolf pelts So it kind of reminded me of skinwalkers in a way said these skin pelts would turn the people that put them on into wolves for 10 days Okay, point of order fathers and sons do never traips around Okay We hang out we hike and hang out and we hike with purpose we don't traips around okay, okay I just I envision like you know Togas and shit That's not fathers and son.

Okay. Am I right chat? Am I right? Yep?

Okay? Okay, let me start over tiny Traips around We get shit we sorry. Oh, that's all sorry. We get stuff done.

I think you can say shit Oh my god. We have we have said worse on this podcast last week. Not recently. We're not just explicit anyway, so okay So here we go.

Let's try this again. Okay Nordic folklore. It's called the saga of old song and father and son There's a father and son that we're stomping around in the wilderness. Okay.

I'll buy that. Okay. Good job They found some wolf pelts that turned into a wolf for 10 days and so they found pelts They did that means somebody else had killed these wolves and and butchered and skinned them right? Right.

Prior to them fighting them. Yeah, someone put them there, right? Yeah, okay It's it's an omen. So that is exactly so that's kind of a question that where they came from so they put the pelts on their father and son They're gonna do that stomp it around the woods.

Hey, look at this So put them on and then they went on a killing rampage and they just for 10 days They just went around killing things happens to me when I put on a pelts I don't know what it is. I don't know what it is, but you know you make a problem Yeah, yeah, yeah, let's let's have some fun. So it finally ended when the father attacked his own son Yeah, so it's all fun games until somebody burns a wiener. Yeah, so yeah, I actually I just found what you were talking about So did you said Nordic?

I kind of want to deep dive into it because that's Vikings exactly I knew that I knew that would perk up your ears. Nothing is more badass than Vikings. So how can that not capture your attention? How about Viking werewolves?

Exactly. There you go. It basically ends with father rippins on son's throwout So watch out you got you keep using my tools and leaving it in the lawn for me to run over the lawn mower And I'm gonna kick your ass kid. I'm sorry.

You didn't hear that And suddenly I hear the lawn mower go over something in the lawn and suddenly I realized oh that's where I was working on my bike And I left his pliers I'm not coming home till 10 o'clock tonight Okay, here's a lawn mower story and then we'll from the castle Raven house So if castles listening to this he will get a kick out of this we had a lawn mower growing up that worked You could you could start it and you'd mow the lawn, but you couldn't turn it off The only way you could turn off was to go get a screwdriver and stick the screwdriver to the metal and then Ignition to the spark plug. So we actually got a screwdriver that my dad just hung you know how when you pulled along Or there's a little hole the little loop right? Yeah, we would just stick a screwdriver there So you have to go look in for one. Yeah, there you go.

Yeah, you go cut us to your dad for thinking on his feet Anyway, sorry, we're having a really hard time tonight back to vampires vampires were wolves Remember does kind of fall into place with Lincoln remember I said earlier when I talk about it I'm really really tired remember that. Yeah, we've already lost like three quarters of our listeners after the whole story thing But you know, this is this is this is the first of the crazy Halloween episodes the season game, right? Don't don't miss the rest of them. Oh my gosh Sorry, we're gonna keep on track here.

We go on track So we're gonna kind of break away from some of the origins of where werewolves may have come from And we're gonna kind of jump into some possible actual werewolves Whether they're actual actual werewolves like there's a shred of credibility that they really are were The ones in France and Germany and yes, yeah, Australia The Australian ones is that would that be a weird Tasmanian tiger if it was Australia probably Wolves, you know, maybe a weird dingo. Okay a weird dingo in Australia. Okay. Go ahead.

I'm sorry So it's mainly some legends from it But kind of some of it took place in 2009 that every single thing that multiple hospitals got people coming in with bites that looked like dog and wolf But they all came in during All moons the dingo a Joe baby Yeah, it's gotta be a dingo. There's no wolves. Well, it could be well dog, you know a domestic dog, but It's according to multiple hospital staff from hospitals in Australia patients that came at attack staff displayed wolf-like behaviors like biting spitting scratching And then most of them though were under were either drunk or high But it was always why the moon was full that they were interacting to the crap inside the building You know having worked in law enforcement for a while and hearing some of the stories when that moon is full crazy crazy crap happens You know, I've heard that too not just law enforcement, but you know ER My my sister worked You know as a social worker in the ER department at a major local hospital for 10 years and she will corroborate that during the full moons They get way more activity. Oh, yeah, absolutely.

Okay So yeah, and Drake that was a little bit more recent, right? I was 2008 in July 2009. Yeah, that's crazy 20 year 13 14 years Wow, so the first one I found as far as you know chronological being furthest back was 1521 It was a serial killer in France. His name was Pierre Burgaux and he had a friend I couldn't tell if they worked together or if they were just kind of the same time period But the other guy was Michael Verdon And they say that they sworn allegiance to the devil and he gave them an ointment that turned them into wolves And ointment ointment.

I heard a couple of other accounts where ointment saw involved And the word ointment is just kind of weird. Yep, and then It is and there's a yeah along the same lines another Frenchman named Giles Garnier. He was called the werewolf of dole the same story in France Soled as you know, Swars allegiance to the devil was given ointment Was he a count? I didn't say it didn't say because there was one and that name sounds very familiar to one of the stories that they talked about where another man in the 1700s in Louisiana with the name that was the last name was very very similar and had the same bill But it was like a hundred years later.

Yeah, well, it was kind of interesting and I it was similar to that name He said yes, I don't know what the deal is with appointment, but there their MO they would murder children So kind of like Greyback and Harry Potter and the kind of specialized in children and they were both burned at the stake Which at the time was the crimes that they committed of killing children I mean it still is a very very what was the purpose for killing the children was it was a Satanic ritual or just really say I mean if you think that you know Well They didn't know about that they didn't know about possessions They didn't like us they kind of did but they didn't know about mental illnesses They didn't know the only thing they could think of was their werewolves because no human being would do such a thing And then was there any kind of was with children eating at all or consumed they didn't go into a lot of detail about it And so I have one about the world for door that he killed them and viciously killed them and ate them There's a special place in hell for people to do that anyway Yeah, so at the time they figured the only way you could kill a werewolf was to be burned at the stake So they were all burned at the stake. Oh, so they didn't know the silver works that silver would work as well Yeah, they weren't they weren't akin to that All the updated lore. Yeah, and so even you know all of the 16th century Europeans just they had no explanation So they're like werewolves gonna be werewolves So yeah, so this was in France in Germany, which is right next door. They had an issue too There's a fellow there named Peter Stu and he actually said he devoured many citizens of Bedberg after turning into a werewolf So he actually ate citizens.

Wow, there is there is a connection yeah, so this story was a little bit weird because there were supposedly Some eyewitnesses and keep in mind this is again the 16th 16th 17th century But that he was cornered by some hunters and the hunter said that they saw him transform He did also claim that he had an enchanted belt that gave him the power to transform a will yes Oddly enough. They've never been able to find that belt a lot of people say that they think it was just a witch hunt You know of the area and the time sounds like he wasn't the only one and then There was another fellow that they claimed to be a real werewolf. He was called Peter the wild Peter the Wild Boy the Wild Boy. I'm like I can't understand my handwriting Peter the Wild Boy He was in 1725 in Germany.

He was found naked in a German forest by some people. I wish my nickname was Peter the Wild Boy We could call you at the Wild Boy You've been pretty wild tonight So he was thought to have been either a werewolf himself or raised by wolves Like what do you know about him? Really much every I think you have the same stuff I do that He was hands can speak was eventually adopted by King George the first and the second and was there at in anyone Yeah, that wouldn't fly these days. You'd get canceled for that Yeah, but I can actually say being raised by wolves or the story of it is possible I have my own little thing about that from family stories.

No, I'm here to share not per se Oh, you can't just drop that bomb in that way. You got a share So my great my great great grandmother apparently was raised by wolves in the West Utah desert That's really cool according to the story and for what I've been told has been very very vague I didn't know there were wolves in the West Utah desert. There's coyotes. There's wolves too Back in the day.

Well, this was like this was like late 1800s early 1900s Well, I mean there's Tarzan the other movie he was Supposedly raised by a bear and then you talk of in we mentioned earlier the founding of Rome with Remus and Ramus raised by a she-wolf Yeah, there's another I ran into another couple of instances of that where you know people were claimed to be raised by wolves and Tie in with werewolves kind of thing. So after reading a little bit about Peter the Wild Boy Some people you know researchers that have kind of looked into this sort of a thing decided or decided speculated that he probably had a thing called Pit Hopkins syndrome, which was discovered in 1978 some other Possibilities a real syndrome a real medical syndrome. Yeah, there's one called like can like and drop We need not like entropy like entropy which comes from that Greek guy that we talked about right Let like and and that is like a disorder where you believe you are a wolf So I don't know maybe one of the original furries. Yeah, it makes sense.

Some people think it's linked to food poisoning One that sounds all now, you know what? That's amazing because it does sound a lot like those episodes that we've even talked about them in some of our podcasts were you know People were affected by bread mold and danced for days, you know, just they couldn't control it Yeah, so there is a ring of truth to that. Yeah, that's what I that's the first thing that came to my mind too I was like, oh, yeah, good good good good boys and you're like, ah, no Yeah, crazy dancing people exactly and there's another one called the could be called hyper Jucosis, which is a disorder where you grow extra hair Rabies that you get that happens when you're an old man anyway sprouts sprouts everywhere So you're losing some places and you grow it in places where you should yeah, exactly. Yep, exactly On their brother.

I get it. Yeah, there's two more one is rabies. Oh You know kind of foaming at the mouth and just acting crazy And then the last one is just a hallucination from herbs, you know, you just eat the wrong mushroom and suddenly you're aware Or at least you think you are it happens. Yep Is that personal experience?

No, not you. Am I when he said it happens? Oh, you know, I have I have witnessed someone eating the wrong mushroom. Yes, I mean you bring out the 70s there Yes, I I bet.

Yeah, I've been around a long time I actually used to work with a guy who was at woodstock as like a 12 year old kid So that tells you how old I am so but no, um, yeah stuff happens bleeding Get some get some bad gummies get some extra strong gummies. No, no, I've just witnessed it I've been spared so far from any of the chemical effects of like canthropy. So that's okay. That's funny I have a family member that occasionally I will text and He'll remind me he'll say remind me that we talked about this in the morning because I just I just had an edible and I may not remember this So that's always it happens.

Yep. Absolutely. I really do I am so um, I just have the urge to play werewolves of london, you know, warren zivon I can't stand it as soon as we're done. I'm gonna play it.

So I'm sorry, but no, that's actually awesome So the thing about having the smurfs theme song stuck Stop it. Stop it. Stop it If anybody sings the Barney song, that's it. I'm putting I'm putting a bullet through my brain I got the one there So the thing about werewolves is you know, if there's something about humans that you get vampires you get werewolves you get You get just any of these mystical creatures and it just works It's way into the fabric of popular culture and wolves have like their traditional bees though in all of in all of our Various, you know ethnic stories.

It's always been a wolf at the door a wolf That's you know always no matter where you come from in the world your culture says it's a wolf that is after you Yeah, I mean you think about they're strong they're powerful. They're they're beautiful I mean, they're vicious. Absolutely. Yeah, so I'm not gonna name off everything because we'd be here all night But I just want to kind of throw out some of some popular wolf things Wolfman.

Yep, so there's Twilight by Stephanie Meyer. These are the different movies movies. Oh, I had weird. Oh, I had weird And we know that Twilight is kind of snout.

I mean it was wildly popular, but people didn't really like the sparkly vampires It was an English project for her. Yep If I was a 12 year old girl, I would love these movies Okay interested in the genre. I would love these movies. You know what?

I get it. I read the books I like the books and I get the the disdain for sparkly vampires, but it was a fun series Um, there's another series. I'm actually saving for the junk doors We'll come back to that one and we will revisit Stephanie Meyer just a little bit there But it'd be a Kelly Armstrong series right? I actually ran into that reference when I was doing some other stuff.

Yes, it is But we will chat about that in a minute. You can tell we don't have we don't have production in writers meetings for weeks before we do these folks Oh, no, no, no, that's okay. I think that people have figured that out years We still get there. We still get there ladies and gentlemen.

Thank you for your patreon. Yeah, people have to be on their toes To keep on We've kind of getting everything so Harry Potter and then we usually have to have a Harry Potter reference But there's werewolves and Harry Potter wait a minute. You gotta remind me. I don't remember the werewolves and Harry Potter Wasn't lichen or lichen So not okay Grayback Fenrir was the bad one that was around biting kids on purpose.

He actually turned lupin into a werewolf Well, you know, compared to Voldemort, you know werewolves are pretty you know pretty mild. Yeah, yeah, like yeah I'll just kick that dog, you know, don't worry So So there's a lot of werewolf stuff like back in the 30s 40s 50s the wolf man itself the movie with one chaney from oh, yeah That's the best one there is that's the one that really set most of the popular culture werewolf Kind of precedence stuff and those cheesy special effects of his face changing They were awesome that scared the crap out of me. No, I mean 60s for the times. Yeah for the times.

That was fantastic Werewolves there's really werewolves. What am I gonna do? Yeah before that there's a lot of different werewolf culture tradition and everything else But that movie kind of focused things into what we look at a lot of days a lot of times now as the popular werewolf the beginning of the modern werewolf Yeah, um, so my favorite 1950s 1960s wolf man jack the DJ Oh, yeah, yeah, I love wolf man jack. I love wolf man jack.

Jack. You know who old man jack is doing Maybe maybe not. Oh, you got a good old man. He's never seen American graffiti.

Have you seen the movie American graffiti? Not when I was sober There was a character in that a DJ called wolf man jack He just has this that was a real person and it was played by the real wolf man jack. So yeah very distinctive kind of gravelly boys Hey, that brother's how you do it. That is the wolf man.

Yeah, you do a pretty good wolf man. Actually, I remember dr. Demento I do too I know I'm going to doctor. Those are my high school.

They will ban jack baby. Yeah, we're gonna play some rock and roll for you tonight You actually do a really good one. So I think everyone probably knows Ben Helsing that was 2004. That was an awesome movie So this one was my era.

This was this was my teenage years, but teen wolf 1985 with michael jfox. Remember that was awesome. Yep Yeah, for 1980s teenage movie that wasn't too bad American will wear wolf in london. It's kind of a classic.

It's 18 or 1981 That's one of my favorites. It is the there's orange email the dark the dark humor in that is amazing If you've never seen that one, I highly recommend it It's a classic werewolf story with a real twist to it as far as that his the guy gets bit and It's a spoiler. It's only like 40 years old. Okay, if you haven't seen it your own fault I was 11 when I came out He keeps seeing his friend that was with him when they were hiking and they got attacked by a werewolf and his friend died and he lived And he keeps seeing his friend and every time his friend comes back and visits him He's deteriorating more and more and more.

It's an awesome awesome story Yeah, I've seen it but it's been like a gazillion years ago Maybe I'll have to watch it again since it's October and watch it's just booking me And then the last one like I said, this is not by any stretch of the imagination the entire list of werewolf Movies and books just I just kind of wrote down the it is the most incredibly wide topic ever There's there's no way we could even scratch the surface in one episode. There's no way No, I can add one from like the last 10 years and that's teen wolf. No, that one's great with michael jfox Yeah, the tv series. Oh the tv series.

I don't know it was a tv series. It was on MTV Oh nice. That's probably the same premise as the movie. No, okay It's based off a series of books.

I can't remember who the author is but it's it's kind of like Twilight-ish but makes a little bit more sense and not sparkly vampires. Oh, I've got I've got one for you It's a michael land and movie. Oh lay it on us. It's uh, I was a teenage werewolf with michael land Oh, yeah, I actually was looking for that one and I thought it was teen wolf and I've forgotten all about that That's yeah, good call.

Yeah, we gotta get our michael land and reference in for Raven Oh jeez, I just I still remember, you know, highway to heaven just sobbing my guts out every week You know michael land in from little joe to little house on the prairie to start with a heaven He was awesome. Yeah, that just that last show of his I just I was at the age where I just every episode I watched that and I would just sobbing just in tears just by the end of the episode He was I got ties to that show really tell us your ties Great uncle was one of the main actors on there besides michael landin. Oh, I can't remember his name I never actually met him I think I can only name one of my oh I could do a handful I guess I had one great uncle I was close to and I'm missing terribly but That's the only great uncle I ever had come to think of it so I'm good. I'm covered in argentina.

There's a belief the seventh son in a marriage will be a werewolf That's good. Is this a native tradition? Yes in argentina Okay, the seventh son will become a werewolf and in the 1920s Seventh sons were being killed by their families because you know, they didn't want their child to be a werewolf So they were just automatically a werewolf they didn't just have a chance of an increased chance of becoming a werewolf You were born a werewolf if you were the son of a and the president of argentina to try to change that became godfathers to any seventh son From families in argentina so that they wouldn't kill their seventh son children. Wow.

Wow, you know, that's actually pretty amazing For politician to take that step in a in a superstitious religious society like that Yeah, and it helped it helped so that those children weren't being killed I'm sure there's a lot of seven sons, you know, not alive today after the 20s, but you know, their children and grandchildren That's amazing. So I thought that was interesting because we've we found some really interesting stuff about werewolves when we were looking at stuff Oh, yeah, and I mean we can have a whole podcast No, I mean like a whole like you know, this is a supernatural hour and we talk about supernatural stuff you could have We can have like 10 episodes on werewolves Some of the subjects we explore it's like folks we only scratched the surface and you know, we re-explore some of them from time to time But there's any one of these topics could just be explored forever for hours. Yeah, absolutely. All right.

How about a segment now? Okay, here's the thing I've been working actually for a while on comparing the sp7 spirit box and the sp11 spirit box To the uh, fasma software, which we tried at pios. You might do you guys remember that I tried it in the ballroom? Yeah, and it was a little too noisy in there for me to really get anything There's just too many people and too much background noise But uh, I didn't get that set up for tonight and I've been trying I will get that set up for next time So uh, that's a good that's a good one for for this kind of podcast because we will actually compare Some audio of uh a standard, you know, sweeping frequency spirit box like the sp7 or sp11 With the fasma software, which is very similar to a geoport Which you know, some of you may have seen on some of the episodes that's oh, that's that talks really weird, you know, in spooky We're here.

You know that kind of stuff. Yep. So next next podcast, uh, I will have some comparisons for us to listen to Oh, nice. Okay.

That's it. I want to remind everybody of our shop at advanced parenone.com. It's now it's october It's starting to cool down. It's cold out there.

You saw it There's we have snow like above, you know, seven or eight thousand feet. There is snow. It has begun So see get that hoodie Okay, so my junk drawer kind of go back to werewolves Um, I show I'm sure that almost everybody has heard of twilight right with sparkly vampires We just talked about where was Jacob so I started reading Um a series by this gal named kelly armstrong and the first three books I read of hers They were in a series was actually kind of time travel ghost And then I found a book of hers that was called haunted and I thought woman rehaunted And the thing about haunted is it's like book six and a series of eight and I was like well day But it was summer I had an operation so I had a lot of downtime to read The her the very first book shaver wrote was called bitten and it's about werewolves and I'm reading it and I'm thinking this is a lot like twilight And so I look to see who came first, you know twilight or bitten didn't actually came first kelly armstrong series came first Um, so I think Stephanie Meyer and by quite a few years like seven or eight years something like that And so um, I think twilight Stephanie Myers was either just kind of influenced by her or maybe just stumbled upon the same Kind of thing. Well and that happens because you were a writer and you've written a book and I know it's kind of a stretch Well, you've written a book.

It's available on advanced paranormal.com shop It's called the piper's ghost, but you were writing another book about the Scottish Highlands Talk about that. So I started writing this book kind of a time travel. We drew a book I was pretty excited about it and then I got busy and and nothing happened with it And I let it kind of just drift off and then outlander came out and I'm like dang it Was I mean it wasn't exactly outlander, but it was very it had some very similar aspects to it I thought if I don't change some of these aspects people are gonna think I just ripped off outlander and I did not mind came first Thank you and it could be very much like the Stephanie Meyer right other thing where you know Similar ideas come out with you know, many of the same types of conventions without plagiarism or without any kind of copying or you know Maybe being influenced by the culture more so than the other writers Well, yeah, a lot of ideas will come out at the same time, but you know, unfortunately, you know, the courts are gonna recognize that copyright date You know, well wasn't it? Marconi and wasn't it?

Who's the other one on on the radio on the wireless but Edison they came out, you know almost simultaneously completely independently on two different continents and it's like how long We how long have we gone without radio and then two guys invented Pretty much simultaneously. Well, you know, but you know, that was low hanging fruit right in front of both of them You know, just you know two inspired men said well, hey, here's the answer at the same time Yep, absolutely, but I do if I had to pick one over the other I would pick Kelly Armstrong hers or her her because she does branch off into vampires and she branches off into You know, we're just more development generally and yeah, they're less they're a little more mainstream Little less sparkly. I said a little less teenage high school girl. Yeah, they're they're more adults They're more adult is it is it uh, you know more history at the expense of character interaction or you still get the character interaction?

You still get some character interaction. They're not okay. They're not like hardcore vampires, but they're not sparkly vampires or somewhere Well, and remember, you know, the whole twilight thing that's that's run by you know teenage hormones and crap, you know, exactly So the audience so the audience for these books wouldn't be the 15 year old girls. No as much as more of a no She does 25 year old 35 years old.

Yeah, she gets a little bit into some romantic interludes Not much. I just you know, I can hear people now. I'm not gonna read it. You know, maybe a page or two In the book.

It's not like it's not like about us ripper where you know, I'm just not I'm not interested in seeing, you know, young Jacobs chest in the moonlight Like that. I'm sorry. I think I can still I still think I could I could I could beat the pants off that punk Right. So I mean so I mean she she uses some descriptions and words that you'd want to be an adult to read you wouldn't want to work too Okay, okay, but it's not a lot.

I mean, I don't want people think I'm not I mean it's it's very Not look for this book in a Davis County elementary school library, right? But any elementary school library to be honest in Utah. Yeah, or anywhere If you want to get some books that are just fun kind of about some of those paranormal creatures Uh, Kelly Armstrong, she's look at the bit in series. I think it's called women of the underworld Anyway, it's a really good series.

So anyway, all righty. I hope we didn't go too off into the weeds this time But we had fun. I had fun. Did you guys have fun?

I had a great time. Yeah, this is A rush Tonight A little red writing Yeah, yeah, I didn't think about it now think about it. Not only was that you know she impersonated the wolf impersonated the grandma So there was a shift shaping Incident there. So was that not just there wasn't just a cross-racing wolf you think obviously she'd have a shapeshift or or little red writing Would would have noticed her face.

Yeah, grandma in a you know, a wolf with grandma's little bed cap and you know booties is not going to be You know overly convincing. You know, yeah, yeah, yeah, it was grandma was really ugly Anyways, great grandma was really a dog. Oh my oh, jeez Well, you get older and that's an interesting that's an interesting note there Chad. That's I hadn't thought of that Yeah, and I think isn't the red riding hood German?

Isn't that a German origin story? So, okay. Here's my here's my fact for today I saw this meme interesting today showing all these Disney princesses and heroes in all their films with their names mean I saw this they just see this and like you get down to snow white and in english that means snow white Right and Rapunzel in German means what lettuce lettuce lettuce Like wait for an asylum. Yeah, I mean Is like oh this one it means warrior and this one means starry skies.

Yeah, so this would mean like more than I'm like I don't really Yeah That was alright. Hey stay spooky my huntie friends. Hey, have a great night.
