Westerly Bulldogs Head coach Steve Stoehr interview from Saturday morning with Sal Murano on WBLQ

Stoehr's appointment as coach was announced in an email Thursday morning by Westerly athletic director Jamey Vetelino. He replaces Duane Maranda, who left the team to join Prout. Maranda and a few great asst, coaches, coached Westerly for four years, and the Bulldogs qualified for the postseason in all four of his seasons, but couldn’t win a tittle. Stoehr, who has lived in Westerly for more than 30 years, brings an extensive football resume with him. 🏈🏈🏈🏉🏉🏉🏆🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈 Coach Stoehr was with Cranston West for 19 years, starting in 1999. His team won the Division I title 🏆in 2004 and he was named the state coach of the year for all sports that year. 🎖He was also named Rhode Island Athletic Administrator coach of the year in 2005.🏵. Stoehr is a member of the Providence Gridiron Club and Rhode Island Football Coaches Association hall of fames. offensive lineman at URI, playing on Yankee Conference championship teams in 1984 and 1985.
