Western Botanicals for Wellness: Mother Earth's Gifts, Interview with Bodrum Botanicals Founder Eva Black

from You Lost Me at Namaste · host Michelle Schoenfeld

Most of us have heard about the health benefits of herbs like sage for memory and milk thistle to cleanse our liver, but did you know that there are wild botanicals growing all around us that can do things like alleviate asthma, support your immune system or even help regulate your hormones? Well there are! And they are more common and effective than you may realize. Hippocrates was definitely on to something, but somewhere over time as medicine men were pushed to the side by snake oil salesmen, we forgot that almost everything we need for wellness has been provided for us in nature... Thank you Mother Earth! In this weeks episode, I sit down with Eva Black, founder of Bodrum Botanicals to discuss all things botanical! Well actually, we barely scratch the surface with all there is to know, but Eva does a fantastic job of explaining what western botanicals are, how to use them and why we should care. (basically they are natural medicinal plants growing in the western hemisphere from North and South America to Europe and all the way to the Mediterranean, including western Turkey.) She gives specific examples from the benefits of milky oats and when to harvest them to the use for olive leaves that we should ALL know about, as well as the difference between tinctures and teas. This episode is just part 1 so keep a look out for part 2 coming next month, where we will dive into more specifics, cover a couple DIY's and her botanical SKINCARE products! We Also Mention:What are adaptogensBenefits of several common wild growing plantsWhat are tinctures and how to make themBest immune support botanicalsThe difference between Eastern and Western BotanicalsWeekly Mantra:"I respect my body and make healthy choices."If you like this podcast, please subscribe/Follow/download/write a review and help spread the word by sharing it with your friends and on social media.
