Even before the public hearings scheduled next Monday and on the 20th over the Evans Spring development plan, there were a few fireworks at yesterday's City Council meeting. A ban on assault firearms and certain ammunition has passed the House of Delegates. House Bill No. 2, as written, would make it a Class 1 misdemeanor for any person who imports, sells, manufactures, purchases, possesses, transports, or transfers an assault firearm. Those against bringing skill games back to Virginia say lawmakers aren’t considering the impact these machines have on children. A nonprofit is working with a local school to benefit a disabled veteran and boccia (bah-chee) ball athlete.
