WGA Strike Begins

from Rick Dayton

More than 11,500 members of the Writers Guild of America walked off the job this morning. They are on strike for the second time in 15 years. This time, they say their wages are lagging, there are fewer people in the TV writing rooms, and the determination of how to calculate residual income for syndication is out of date. Matt Pelphrey was a screenwriter for MTV's "Skins" and now works as a professor at Point Park University teaching screenwriting. Pelfrey was a guest on the Rick Dayton Show. He said the line between network television and streaming "is gone. That's why the strike is happening."
