A library in Auckland wants to help young people become more confident with their reading, and have found a solution in the form of a four-legged friend. As part of Whangaparaoa Library's Read to a Dog programme, children aged five and above can practise their reading skills with a dog.Research has shown reading to therapy dogs can help children relax while reading, as they listen attentively without judgment. Manager of Whangaparaoa Library, Eileen Sione spoke to John Campbell.
