What About the Dads?

As moms, we often carry the flag for our children in the special needs community. Today, Jessica Patay interviews two dads of children with special needs whose experiences as parents have changed the course of their lives, careers, and dreams.  Shawn Francis and his wife of 14 years, Laura, are parents to seven children, one of which is their biological son who is 13 & was diagnosed with Autism at the age of three. Shawn has over a decade of experience providing financial education & services to families. He is co-host of the Just Two Dads show, and is an ambassador for Autism Speaks & a member of the Autism Parents Advisory Board of Children's Hospital of Los Angeles. Brian Altounian is the father of three children, one of whom is an adult daughter who was diagnosed with a developmental disability at the age of three. She is thriving & living independently today, despite being told by doctors upon her diagnosis that the case would be otherwise! Over the last 30 years, Brian has worked as an Executive across multiple industries.
