What Am I Making Podcast #002 with Christian Finnegan

I’d already had the pleasure of interviewing Christian Finnegan a few months back for an episode of Stand Up with Pete Dominick. Christian had just started a substack called New Music For Old. I really wanted Pete to promote it on his show. Pete doesn’t feel at home talking about music. Actually, that’s a kindness on my part to say that he doesn’t enjoy it. It would be more accurate to say that watching Pete discuss music is a bit like watching a toddler frame a garden shed. Naturally, I offered my services. Christian and I seemed to hit it off, of sorts. After our initial interview, we kept up an infrequent social media chat. As I tried to get this thing off of the ground, I realized how much of what Christian discusses in his new special Show Your Work, crosses over with some of the ideas I am thinking about over here. Those larger themes have also crept into myriad appearances that Christian has made on Stand Up. He’s a regular guest over there most Fridays. It seemed worth reaching out to se if he might like to chat about some heavy, middle aged, creative/sensitive, white dude shit.
