What are my actual losses? When I lose it? This is the daily disturbance podcast with Anthony Fungini. Sometimes we change because of the gains behind the change.
And sometimes we change because we can no longer stand the losses without the change. How many business deals, projects, contracts, opportunities with friends and even communities? Have I lost? Because of my failure to be gentle, calm, to chill when I needed to.
Just like most of you, I cannot count. I stood on my own two feet, but I forgot not to step in the feet of others. That's a paraphrase of a thought by Tony Abram. Let's count the losses, shall we?
Number one, when I lose it, D, dignity, the loss of personal dignity. Being worthy, that's a definition. At that moment of honor and respect, that's gone. And sometimes the moment extends further if it's not arrested immediately.
Number two, another loss, image, reputation. Beyond the dignity of the moment, this lasts a bit longer. How many cases of one-night choices ruin decades of consistent growth and impact? Somewhere rebuilt, but foundation was sadly compromised.
Number three, the third loss, self-worth. Come on, feelings at least of self-worth, because of guilt. When I lose it, when I fail to chill, when I give into my emotions, it's easy to question one's worth, right, to fall into a state of guilt, hence the power of confession and the hope of forgiveness in such situations. Number four, the fourth loss, any advantage that you have or advantages that you hold on to.
Sun Tzu, and I quote, it is the unemotional, reserved, calm, detached warrior who wins. Not the hot-haired seeking vengeance and not the ambitious seeker of fortune. Number five, five loss, the loss of senses, literally your ability to see to hear, to feel what else to taste, to smell, the truth is compromised. And sadly left unchecked, reason bows down to emotion and wants ability to see reality.
Number six, the sixth loss, when we lose it, time, let it see, time, the time needed to heal. Now, to rebound again, to explain, to recover what may have been lost. Well, they will only be worth it if we learn from it. Number seven, enthusiasm, we all lose motivation.
Come on, even momentarily, after we lose control of ourselves. When we fail to delay the display of the emotions, the appropriate time, or worse, we deny it completely. Enthusiasm ends with IASM, I am numbed because IASM, I am shocked myself. And number eight, the last loss, at least from this initial list, is relationships.
Forget what you hurt in the past, but never forget what it taught you. This is a quote, however, if it taught you to hold onto grudges, seek revenge, not forgive or show compassion, to categorize people as good or bad, to distrust and be guarded with your feelings, then you didn't learn a thing. God doesn't bring you lessons to close your heart. He brings you lessons to open it by developing compassion, learning to listen, seeking to understand instead of speculating, practicing empathy, and developing conflict resolution to communication.
If he brought you perfect people, how would you ever learn to spiritually evolve? Shannon Elder, D, dig a TI image, reputation, S, self-worth, A, advantages, S, census, T, time, E, enthusiasm or relationships? Disaster, don't be a disaster. And this final quote from Keanu Reeves himself, if you have been brutally broken, but still have the courage to be gentle to other living beings, then you're a badass with the heart of an angel.
