What are Relics? The Legend of Teilo's Skull-Wales and round the World!

from maryinmonmouthshire's Podcast

Sixth century Wales, the reliecs of Teilo are divided, most lost but the subsequent history of the top part of the skull is amazing. This is an explanation of relics, quotes from the Catechism of the Catholic Church about relics and sacramentals and concentrates on what relics are not and what they are as focuses for prayer to God, and petitions for intercession from one whom they feel is close physically. There is special emphasis on the place of relics in Welsh tribal society, where they were extremely important and subsequently in the Middle Ages, where rogues sometimes traded in fakes and were punished for it. In fact the Vatican intervened a couple of years ago when people were trying to sell a relic on ebay!!   [email protected] MaryinMonmouth Group on Facebook
