What are the foundational beliefs that shape our identity as followers of Christ?

from His People Gabs East · host His People Gabs-East

In this continued series of What Shapes Us, we dive deep into the core of our faith, why we do what we do as followers of Christ. Our beliefs truly shape who we are, and understanding them is key to growing beyond just liking a church or a pastor, to developing a personal, unshakeable relationship with God. We unpack our 12 Statements of Faith as His people under Every Nation, emphasizing that we are not followers floating without authority, but rooted and grounded in biblical truth.Key takeaways include:✨ Belief is foundational — Jesus commands us to “believe in the one He sent” (John 6:29). Whatever you are doing right now, it’s shaped by what you believe.✨ One God, Three in One — We believe in the triune God, creator of everything seen and unseen (Genesis 1:1, John 1:3). God made us fearfully and wonderfully (Psalm 139:14), each unique and beloved.✨ Man’s Fall and God’s Pursuit — From Genesis 3, we see how Adam and Eve’s sin opened their eyes to their nakedness, leading them to try and cover themselves with fig leaves. Yet, God seeks us with open arms, asking, “Where are you?” (Genesis 3:9),  not because He doesn’t know, but to invite us to confess and return to Him.✨ The Only Way to Salvation — We boldly declare that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, born of a virgin (Isaiah 7:14, Matthew 1:23), fully God and fully man, who lived a sinless life and gave Himself as a perfect sacrifice for our sins (1 Peter 2:24). He rose on the third day (Luke 24:6-7), ascended to heaven, and will return to judge the living and the dead (Acts 1:9-11, Revelation 22:12). Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6).✨ Grace and Faith, Not Works — Salvation is a gift we receive by faith when we confess Jesus as Lord (Romans 10:9-10). It’s not earned by our deeds but freely given by God’s grace.✨ Old Testament Shadows, New Testament Reality — The Old Testament points to Christ through shadows and symbols, but it’s in the New Testament that we see the full picture of redemption (Hebrews 10:1). God covered Adam and Eve with animal skins (Genesis 3:21), a foreshadowing of the ultimate sacrifice Jesus made for us.This episode is a heartfelt call to ground your faith in God’s Word and to grow beyond the initial attraction to church culture. Whether you stay in Botswana or move far away, the foundation you build in Christ will carry you through.Let’s grow together in truth, understanding, and boldness, because what you believe truly shapes who you become. For more messages like this, you can always go to our website: www.hispeoplebotswana.org Attend one of our services by visiting our church housed in Maharaja Conference Centre in Gaborone: https://maps.app.goo.gl/mEzeHWtQc2wuaor simply, reach out to one of our leaders via the WhatsApp: +267 74 312 240#HisPeople #Church #EveryNation #WeYourPeople #ChurchSeries #HisPeopleGabEast
